Guys,

Has anybody recently replaced a rear handbrake cable with one purchased from American Auto's (Sydney Rares Spares agent) or Rare Spares directly?

I went and purchased one yesterday, took it home, and mucked around for a couple of hours trying to make it fit. The cable seems to be about 50mm too short overall, so when you try to connect up the centre front of the cable to the handbrake fulcrum the cable falls about 25mm short.

Put the cable in, didn't fit, pulled the cable out, refitted very carefully, still no good- even read the manual as a last resort!. Pulled it out and compared it to the original, and found it was too short! Had to free the jammed original and refit it to the car. I also noticed that their are no grease nipples on the replacement, and the whole thing seems to be of a lesser quality.

Any ideas what the problem is - or at least where I can buy one that is even close to the original quality.

Cheers,

Craig.

They are the same as Rare Spares cables if the one you brought from American autos is faulty take it back for a refund

i have never bought anything from rare spares that i didn't have to take back because someone gave me the wrong part.
