hi harko  the fellow who shows up as being in chat room was there earlier but left without signing out.
maybe thats what causes the problem.
it was his first visit & he was talking to norm & a couple of other "suspect" members ,so who knows what frame of mind he was in when he left!! Grin Grin

Hi Guys
Harko and I have had a couple of problems , I've been "online" and showed a couple of members on , clicked on chat and Harko was there , but he was not shown as "online" .
Don't know if it's just a software "hick-up" or IT DON'T LIKE HARKO  Grin Grin Grin ,   if anyone else has this problem , post it here , then RET can see how much it does or doesn't happen.
  Cheers

OK Norm it sounds like your opening the flood gates there  (IT DON'T LIKE HARKO     ,   if anyone else has this problem , post it here )
Im now closing the gates hehehe.

Rob thats a completely understandable senario  I know but as Norm said I may be online in both the Forum and Chat and only show in one or two or neither.
And this happens to Norm and yourself too.
Big brother is sitting back watching and whenever the confusion caused get typed into chat  he lets out a little snigger .

Oh there's too many variables to try and debug that one, but basically:

- The flag that says whether you're online or not is based on you clicking something in the forum within the last 20 minutes or so, EXCLUDING activity in the chat-room itself.  So if you're chatting away in there for a half-hour or more, you may not show up as on-line in the forum anymore, although you should still be listed in the "Who's Chatting" box.

If you don't log out of the chat room properly, you may still show up as connected to other people when you aren't.  There's a link on the right to reload the list of attached users which can sometimes fix this problem.

The fact that the chatroom uses Java and Javascript means there's huge potential for different behaviour on different platforms and browsers, so I can't say for certain what the cause might have been.  As far as the system singling out certain individuals for "special treatment", you're on your own with that conspiracy theory :-/

cheers
