Hi everyone, the following went out via email to all entrants today - check your junk folder if you did not receive it.
Hi,
After such a long wait, the Nationals are almost here! We are only a few weeks away from the event, and we are so looking forward to hosting you in Broken Hill. Our shipments of merchandise are arriving, the programme is getting printed, the trophies have been made. It's happening, people.
Some things you should be aware of to help you make your plans:
1. Registration
Registration and collection of goodie bags and other material will occur at the Broken Hill Civic Centre, from 12.00pm to 3.30pm on Friday April 7. The Civic Centre is also the location where all of our official dinners will be held, so you'll get to know it well. It is located at 31 Chloride Street, in the centre of town.
2. Camp Chairs
The site of the show 'n' shine has some public seating, but not huge amounts. The same goes for the destination point for the cruise on Sunday. So if you can fit some camp or fold-up chairs in the car, you'd be well advised to bring them.
3. Saturday Night Fancy Dress
There isn't any. You are most welcome to frock up and get your Priscilla, Queen of the Desert on, or perhaps your post-apocalyptic Mad Max leathers, but it's not obligatory.
4. Silverton and the Mad Max Museum
We originally planned to have going to the Mad Max Museum an optional event on Monday, and that is what was promoted in the Nats Brochure and Itinerary. Unfortunately, the Museum no longer opens on Monday, so plans have had to change. The proprietors have confirmed they will be open every other day of the long weekend, so if you are keen to visit the Museum and the famous Silverton Hotel, our advice is to go there on Thursday before the Nats properly commences, or otherwise get out there when they open at 10.00am on Good Friday, check out the attractions, and get back to Broken Hill before 3.30pm to complete your registration. If you are staying on Monday you will find there are lots of other attractions in Broken Hill itself to visit, such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service Outback Experience, or the Pro Hart Gallery and Museum, amongst others.
If you have any questions, please reply to this email and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
See you in the Outback.. in a couple of weeks!!
