Bumperette bolts

Posting on behalf of Chuck who won't have access to a PC for a couple of days...

Wanted:

A pair of the special bolts that go under the rubber buffer on a ute/panelvan bumperette.

These bolts have a flat round head and a raised section behind the head that locks into the rectangular hole in the bumperette, enabling them to be tightened. (Similar concept to a standard round headed bolt)

I know it's not very hi tech or original but I just used zinced roofing bolts?

of course it may not match the chrome on the bumper exactly....

Guys, thank you for your comments however we are not talking about standard bumper bar bolts.

The bumperettes fitted to utes and panelvans have a very distinctive bolt that locks into a hole in the bumperette (similar to a standard bumper bar bolt) but has a flat head almost like a thick washer that fits into the rubber buffer that is on the outside of the bar that would prevent the tailgate hitting the spare wheel door.

In the photo below, the rubber buffer I'm talking of is diagonally below the tailgate hinge. The standard bolt (which is not required) is on the side.

I found these on ebay (seller ID 'jen-shan'). Not sure how authentic they are but they seem to do the job. Might be worth asking if she (?) has any more...

Hi all,
I've found the description for the bumperette rubbers a bit confusing when trying to purchase.

Do the bolts go through the centre of the rubbers, or is the bold head inserted into a section in the back of  the rubber, ie they don't slide through a tunnel going the whole way through the rubber?

The special bolt that locks into the bump rubber is now reproed on Epay although with patience it can be made

To make them, go to your bolt shop and buy 2 cup head or dome bolts the correct diameter in stainless steel

Flie or grind the dome down so it's flat on top and test fit it in the recess in the bump rubbers available from Rare Spares

The square section of the bolt below the dome can be filed down to suit the recess in the ute or panelvan rear bar

 Follow what Gary suggests. I made all of mine very easily. After grinding off the cast stamp, buff the head to a high polish. Kevin.
