Are the mounts on a FJ and FC grey motor different at the side of the gearbox. ? I was under the impression they were, Any help much appreciated

Yes.  Everything's different - the gearbox brackets (the FJ ones have a hole in the driver's side bracket for the clutch pushrod to go through), the engine mounts themselves (the FJ mount has only one bolt hole at the bottom), and the subframe brackets.
