Hi, all I've seen a few discussions about whether the frosted protection plates came out with the FE, FC, FB or the EK but couldn't find anything definite.

Did anyone find anything definite, or any more clues ?

The advertisements during the FE and FC range appear to show a frosted centre, but it is not conclusive.
No advertisements that I've seen specifically talk about the finish.
It has been suggested that there were two suppliers  - one frosted and one not, although I personally doubt this.
The FB range was built with some cost cutting measures for example the hubcaps, so maybe the cheaper looking scratch plates without the frosting were used on FB and EK.
You certainly can't rely too much on what's fitted to original old cars as these things were easily fitted and removed over the years.
