Hi I have been on the forum for a number of years and would like to offer this car for sale…in the hope it goes to an enthusiast to retain its Holden History.
It is a 1957 Holden Special Sedan (Black duco with Red on Red fall leather interior.) It is a very good car. I am the 3rd owner of FE Holden which is stock.
Full Victorian Registration with the Original Black and White Plates Stainless steel exhaust. Brand new tyres/ fuel pump etc. Everything works. No rust & very clean underneath.
It has been restored by the previous owner with the car being totally stripped to a shell and flipped onto its side for underneath work/ detailing. All hang on panels ie doors, boot lid, bonnet, painted separately before re fit. Everything, perfectly aligned. I have continued the up keep and spent a few $$$$.
Original motor removed and another motor was source which was also totally re-built (Now has a mere 1765 miles). This vehicle is garage with a soft cover. Storage and paying rego on 3 cars is my reluctance to put this up for sale. Asking 20k Peter

My name is Richard Booth from nz. I am proud to see your FE in such great condition. I am restoring this very same model. It was number 57 off the assembly line in NZ with only 2 owners & has only done 58,000 miles. I believe it's 1 of only a few left on road here. Can you tell me if anyone has or makes new front guards for this model ?

Do you think that fibre glass ones would be legal ? I have a guy not far from my workshop that makes Toyota 4/4 guards extra. He said he would give it ago if I could get orders for them. From what he was saying , to make one off's are just to dear. If we could get members interested I'd price them up.

Boothy.
If it is number 57 off the assembly line in NZ ......put the money into it and find some metal guards whatever the cost. You have a gem.

I decided to keep this car. Just had the front bar re chromed .....gee the prices for chrome work has gone up. Anyway the car is such a good example of an original ...I couldn't part with. & it is black with red leather ..how good is that?
All the best for Christmas forum users.

Peter, did NZ cars come with leather interior? In Australia specials came with a very fine grain vinyl whilst standards came with a leather look vinyl. I assume your car is a special. Ken

The one I have is a special and it has vinyl trim. I haven't seen any leather trim. Aussies must have sent us all the shit left overs lol

Very interesting topic the leather interiors. I believe 48s and FJs had leather and I've seen it in an EH Premier. Unheard of in FB EK. I'm interested to know about leather options in FE and FC models.

FX and some FJ had leather, but Elascofab (vinyl) was introduced during the FJ range. As a rule all FE and FC had Elascofab in the specials and a cheaper vinyl in the standard/commercial range. I believe a few factory built specials for GMH managers had leather interiors but none still exist as far as I am aware. Leather was reintroduced with the premier range to upgrade the specification.
As always, I am VERY interested when the words "Leather" and "FE" are combined, hence my question. However, I realise now that it was the Australian FE rather than the NZ FE that I was responding to.

Hi ken.
You are probably correct with the fine grain vinyl but I all was thought it was leather on appearance.
Probably made the assumption as it has lasted a long time & reading something on the special.
...& was going off the info from the seller.
I will not mention leather and FE from now on. (Honestly didn't know they were all vinyl)
Regards Peter.

Hi Peter,
I know this is an old thread, but do you still have the black FE? I have the exact same combo. I'm just a bit confused, and hope you can set me straight. I always thought the grey dash was only in a 215 like mine, but mine always had a single piece of material for the door trim with no stainless strip. I see yours has the stainless piece on the door trim, I thought that was only on 225, which has a colour coded dash? Did you add those, or have I got my wires crossed somewhere?? Just deciding what to do with my interior. its at the trimmers now and will be back late Dec. They haven't started yet, and are waiting on me for final details. I have decided to go out on a limb and customize slightly, so I am staying with the original red, but I am doing tuck and roll inserts in the seats. I just have no idea what to do with the door trims yet.
Pinky.

Pinky, 225 (special sedan) has chrome on the door trims, 215 (standard sedan) does not. Both 215 & 225 that were painted black, had silver dash options. Not all had the silver dash, but a significant number did.
