Yep he was.
Was in their slip stream.
Saves heaps on Petrol.
😄

Found a pub and had our first beer on the road.

Then found a spot out of town to sleep.
Lucky the footy is on the radio

Day 2.
Finally - having to much fun to update.
Got up at 6am went into Rolleston to the toilet and have breaky.
Decided to go to Carnarvon Gorge finally. Only taken 5 Nats to get there. Well what a beautiful place. All the photos are on Fred camera. Will post at a later time. Couple of an old wreck (plane) and driving into the gorge. Also rain as per usual.
When for a 4 hour walk. About 10kms when we got back had to lay in the freezing cold water to get feeling back in our feet and knees. Love middle age. NOT.
Drove to Surat for the night. Great free camping spot just out of town. Had a few drinks with a couple from The Tablelands. That’s it for tonight Folks.

Day 3 Tuesday 27th March
Left the nice little town of Surat. Great free camp grounds just out of town on the river. Free showers in town and real coffee. Set for the day. Beautiful weather finally.

Went through Thallon.
Grain Silos are beautiful. Seen them on Facebook awhile ago. Was good to see them finally.

Also have big Wombats

Stopped for awhile in Moree to soak our sore bones (yesterday’s small hike)
In the hot Springs. Oh beautiful

Somehow we missed the NSW border crossing at Mungindi. Do only got this shot to prove we left QLD

Also found the pub. Apparently it was to early for a beer. Yep still closed

And of course a quick stop at the garage when Fred got his V6 conversion kit (V6 Conversions in Moree)
Now off to Narrabri for the night.

So decided to do a little detour and headed up to Bingara.
Someone last night said it was a great place to camp.
So here we are.

First stopped on our way to see the Sawn rocks, Amazing.
Photos are usually mixed up but you will be able to sort them. Also stopped for a quick ale.
Then found a spot on the river for the night.

Day 4 Wednesday 28/3/18
Slept in, was 6.15am (oh 5.15am QLD time)
Left Bingara around 10.30 am, did some site seeing and helped a couple out at a coffee shop with their grinder.  (Long story) What a beautiful little place, lots of old buildings. The Picture Theatre still like it was 60 years ago amazing.
Decided to go through Tamworth, just because we could and needed another track on our map.
Had a beer at Tambar Springs and then found the Black Stump.
Got to Mudgee around 5pm.  All the wineries closed at 5pm. Dam will have to find Port tomorrow. Checked into a Caravan Park tonight, OMG showers and toilets also got to do the washing.
(Showers and Toilets, did I mention that) Only 405 kms to go to Canberra should be there by lunchtime if we don’t get side tracked again.

OK going to try and add a day that seemed a long time ago already

Day 5 Thursday 29/3/18
Woke about 7am up and off to Canberra.  Went through Tamworth, no reason but to say we have been on that road.
Had to go sideways on the map to Gunnedah to get back on track, then down to Bathurst.

Lots of memories from our first Nationals in Orange.  When we all got to do a couple of laps of the track.
Then off to Canberra.  Made it to the Muffler place by 1pm.  Thanks Tim for organising for us.  Quick tighten up and off to the Park to say Hi to old friends and new.
Went for a swim and got ready for the “G Spot” for Dinner.  We finally got smart and phoned through an order.  It was waiting for us when we got there, ordered for a few of the Queenslanders too.
Great spot, great food and great company.
Home to drink Port and Tim Tams with friends.  Thanks guys.
Off to bed at a decent hour.

Day 6 Friday 7, 8, 9, 10 Tuesday 3rd April.
Had an amazing Nationals in Canberra.
There are photos everywhere so won’t need to go into to much detail.
Drank a bit of Port and caught up with lots of friends and made many more.
Got to go to some really cool places. Loved the War Memorial was very touching, and the museum was awesome. Got to do a photo shoot at the front enterance and meet the Director. Loads of stories. Finally got to spend a little time with Tim, Bec and boys. Thanks again for the bed and Port.
Thanks again ACT for the great Nationals. Loved the old Parliament House. What an amazing night

Well Wednesday morning Day 11 and time to head back to Townsville.
Hopefully cyclone Iris has gone by time we get home.
Thinking we should be back by Sunday.

It's hard to keep up with the diary over days 6,7,8 & 9 isn't it.
Driving, talking, eating, drinking, partying and sleeping seem to get in the way  Grin
