Hi, I've just joined the Forum after purchasing a FC ute yesterday.  I have a question, it is registered as a 1957 FC however every article I read indicates FC models didn't start until May 1958.

The numbers are:-

Chassis  FC42011S
Body      FC2106-7220S
Trim      353-650
Paint     256-2058

Can anyone shed some light on this for me please.

You are quite correct in all your research TAZ, but you are not alone with a car with dodgy details.
Apart from the first registration which was done by the dealership, any subsequent registration relied on accuracy supplied by the owner. 30 to 40 years ago it didn't really matter to much whether the details were a little bit wrong.
I have seen dozens of FC's described as 1956 or 1957 and FE's described as 1959 let alone the subtleties of a 1959 FC described as a 1958 and a 1958 FE described as a 1957 etc.

Oddly enough you will find it difficult to get the details corrected unless you strike a friendly staff member at your registration office.

Duchess green is a very pale green, when nitro cellulose lacquer fades it goes chalky and Duchess does look a little like cream then
