Has anyone bothered to reinstate the exhaust baffle? Is there a source for the springs?

Yes, I have.
I have a pair of s/h springs which could be used and a NOS main spring.
If you are interested I will sell the whole lot for $20

Hi Ken that would be great thank you, I was surprised that the baffle still worked after a little persuasion. Let me know how I could grab them.

Finally getting the manifold back on ended up having to get the port surfaces machined which meant splitting hot box. Thats another story. Would any one (Ken!!) have a picture often correct orientation of the springs. Unfortunately the retainer spring broken but have Jerry built another but need to get the ankle correct. Thank you.

Straight out of the manual, you must have one of these for working on the car

Thank you Ken I do have a manual but it only shows and explains the baffle function does not illustrate the springs. Thank you for the diagram.

It's in the FC supplement section, not in the FE part of the manual

That's the original GMH FE manual, when the FC was released GM released a yellow FC supplement that was about 5mm thick. Then some time later they released a maroon covered manual which had both FE and FC in the one book.
The FC supplement is rarer to find, but the maroon book is quite common. I have a couple of copies if you are interested.
