Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those wheels on Ebay all steel?
I've always been of the opinion that mag (short for magnesium) wheels were all alloy or at least had alloy centres.
I once bought a car which was advertised as having mag wheels and it turned out to have steel wheels similar to the sunraysia (spelling?) wheels. The clown owner said that all non-standard wheels were called mags.
Any comments?
Cheers,

Yes i believe what you are saying is correct per say, but I think the term now encompasses a much broader range, when non standard non steel first came out they were made out of magnesium heavy alloy which is where the term mags comes from, but these days I think when someone says mags they mean anything non standard. Also, i think today's "mags" use a totally different and varying mix's of metal alloys to make wheels with less magnesium in the alloy than those of old.
