Hey Everyone,

My name is Laura. My grandfather was David Hughes from the Hughes Brothers museums
in Echuca and Bayswater.

He had a collection of many restored Holdens from 1948 - 1967.

I would like to get hold of one of these cars to buy.

Does anyone know anyone that has one for sale or know where i can get one Huh??

My Grandpa sold most of them just before he passed away in 2009.

Please let me know if you have any information or know anything.

Thank you  Grin

Hi Laura, I know where most of the FE and FC vehicles are but none are for sale to my knowledge. I wish you all the best in getting one back - do you have any preference for which car you would prefer?
Both David and Alex did a wonderful job restoring and displaying the cars under sometimes difficult conditions.

Yes I knew David and I know Alex as well, Alex much better though. Over the years the Vic FE FC club has helped Alex sell a lot of their NOS residue through our annual auction and I bought the remains of the second hand parts left at Warrandyte. We worked very hard to get top prices for the parts we sold for them to try and offset the low prices a lot of the cars were sold for.
Alex and David were guests at one of our FE FC national events in Mildura where they handed out the trophies I think.
The blue FC sedan is at the Echuca museum owned by Holden or the museum, not sure which.
The cream FE sedan is privately owned in Bacchus Marsh and not for sale.
The FE wagon is in SA and owned by an FE FC collector. It was at the last FE FC nationals in Orange. Once again not for sale.

Hi Laura,

Here is a photo of the FE Wagon.

I bought the FE wagon several years ago from a car dealer in Ballarat. As Ken has said it is not for sale as it is a prized part of my collection of 21 FE and FC Holdens. Click on the image to enlarge it.

The sticker says "I'd rather push my Ford than drive a Holden". I agree, I'd rather they pushed their Ford than drive MY Holdens!

Hi Laura,

I have been the owner of two of David and Alex's cars for 10 years or so.
The 1957 FE Sedan in Shoreline Beige and the 1965 HD Premier in Tawny Grey.
I knew your grandfather for twenty years or so and remember him as an absolute gentleman.
The cars form part of my personal collection (though no longer based in Bacchus Marsh) and aren't for sale. Sorry about that.
Just from memory, I think that I can still place the whereabouts of about 13 or 14 of the cars.
Terrific to see that your so passionate.

Regards, Daryl
