Im going to ask the question. Are we a 12 volt NEGATIVE Ground Vehicle or a POSITIVE Ground? I have no idea about electrics?

The concept is fantastic and it looks very simple.

As you say the price is reasonable. I will check out how much to freight to Australia.

Pommy cars were + earth but could be changed to - earth as long as the regulator was polarised ....FC427.....

Mark, was this done by connecting the earth lead from the motor to (-) on batt, then very briefly touching the old (-) lead to the (+) on batt several times before clamping it on?
(I recall doing something like this to an old Rover 100 I had - just so I could fit a neg earth cassette player to it!)

To polarise for NEGATIVE earth

Your battery's NEGATIVE terminal should be connected to the

 chassis or frame.

Disconnect the D & F wires from the dynamo. Run a wire from the unearthed terminal on the battery (i.e. positive) and "flash" it onto the F terminal on the dynamo. By flash I mean brush it over the F terminal 2 or 3 times until a small blue spark can be seen.

Your dynamo's field is now polarised for negative earth
