 :-\Hi My Fe had to be towed home today
I was told the dizzy gear maybe stripped
Anyone out there can you shed some light on what I need to do?
I beleive I find TDC but Im unclear how to find this
where is the ball and mark  ,front or rear of engine

I seriously doubt the dissy gear is stripped (it's made of steel). I think you have stripped the timing gear. If you turn the engine over and the rotor is not going round, this will be what has happened.
This is a very common problem with grey motors. You can get steel gears to replace the fibre gear  - plenty of people swear by them and wouldn't use anything else. I personally have only ever done 1 gear in 30 years and I replaced it with a fibre gear.

That said - I have a NOS fibre gear and gasket kit available if you are interested.  Send me a pm.

BTW - the timing mark is at the rear of the engine - there is a sliding cover on the plate between the engine and gearbox - the TDC ball is on the flywheel.
