Let me tell you, if you think that was a fun evening for me, you've got a pretty sick idea of fun Undecided

It seems the site was hacked again. This was nothing like the previous time - someone got access to the server where all our FE-FC sites (and a bunch of others - some mine, most not) are hosted. No-one is sure how, but the break-in was on 23 February.

Fortunately, the bomb was a fizzer. Whoever was doing this was attempting to turn our site into a malware host, but it failed, largely because the site they were linking to had already been identified as dodgy, and whatever was supposed to be downloaded from there already removed.

So no (great) harm was done, and probably a bit of a lucky escape really. Some lessons learnt by the ISP, and some by me.

Anyway, glad it's back up again with no lasting effects as far as I can tell. And no, it wasn't caused by the orange colour Kiss

I'd like to thank Chris (ACE) and Jonno who first alerted me there was an issue. Investigating their problems with the site led me to discover the main issue. Which, by the way, is also responsible for the Preview function being broken for some people...

I'm rambling now. Must be time to hit the cot. RET out.

Thanks for all of your trouble RET....again! Of course the problem was the colour - and you thought that was pretty trivial - don't say you weren't warned... Huh

Great work Admin (Ret) plus if any others involved.

II had the shakes and hot and cold flushes as I had not had my nightly fix of FEFC Forum.

Thankfully this morning a coffee and a successful login has calmed me down a bit and I back no my normal "Make of that what you will" self.

Jase

Just to reiterate - Thanks for the hours you put in.

I noticed 2 nights in a row the site was slow / acting strangely.

I assumed it was just related to late night testing of the new theme.

I think it appeared to get info from a site something like haas.?? or waas.??

Also a IE information bar appeared wanting me to install a plugin, similar to activex info bar.  I didn't click on the bar.

Let me know if this was related to the hack.

Good work keeping the site online.  It really is a wealth of knowledge for us newbies.

Cheers
Peter.

Yes, all of that (except the bit about the new theme) is related to the hack. It was attempting to link to a page at maas.cl

Can't help you with the SA government. Haven't you got an election shortly? Grin

Hardly a surprise given some of the content of The Shed.

yeah, that's what I've got too! The orange is mainly in the title bars and fades to black in some of them - maybe that's why it seems ok to me!  Huh  Smiley
