Hey all just wondering if it is possible to make a mount on the subframe for the HR front end instead of buying an outrigger and just run the original outrigger.
cheers Jason

The original outrigger is way to low and would look wrong sticking out the bottom of the car

Thanks Craig and Ken, What is the reason that the original FE one does not do the job on the HR front end I have a feeling it might come up too short due to the rounded front end is that right.

The FE/FC outriggers are too high and foul on the sway bar.

I am installing a V6 into my FC Sedan and purchased an outrigger off ebay what is designed to be used when putting a HR front end int a FE - EH Holden.  Only welded outrigger onto hr front end last week and installed it over last weekend. I also have installed the HR swaybar and it had plenty of clearnece.  I am going to have to alter the sump and pickup from the v6 , but I also believe a sump for such a job can be purchased from the likes of CRS or Pat Gardner etc. The quality of the item was very good and fitted onto the frontend without any hassles.  Just had to make sure it was square and central to the HR front end. The ebay seller was prompt in the delivery also.

Ebay description of item purchased:-
OUTRIGGER, FOR FE THRU TO EH HOLDEN, FE,FC,FB,EK,EJ,EH
USE WHEN CONVERTING EARLY HOLDEN TO HR BALL J.FRONT END

THIS OUTRIGGER IS THE PART YOU WILL REQUIRE IF YOU ARE CONVERTING YOUR FE, FC, FB, EK, EJ OR EH HOLDEN ....TO A HR BALL JOINT FRONT END.....THIS ALLOWS THE HR CROSSMEMBER TO BE MOUNTED UP TO THE FRONT LOWER TIE RAIL.

WADDINGTONS OF CASTLEMAINE CAN ASSIST YOU WITH ALL ENGINE AND TRANS COMBINATION CONVERSIONS TO YOUR EARLY HOLDEN STREET MACHINE..WE CAN HELP YOU OUT WITH MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL AND ALL CONVERSION WORK..

WE ALSO SUPPLY A CHANGEOVER HR CROSSMEMBER SERVICE, CALL US FOR MORE DETAILS  03 54 72 1332

The cheapest (if you can locate an old dumped FB or EK) is one of these. This is what the repro one is modelled on.
