What difference if any aside from the stub axles is there between a hr disc and drum front end.

No difference whatsoever - the drum front end even has the cut outs in the tower for the calipers

They will... Torana have a few more degree in the stub than HQ -WB but a lot run them so wheel alignment should be OK ........FC427......

ive been worried i could be runnin torry stubs,as my car handles like a tractor.
how much does the castor angle difference matter,you reckon?

It's camber angle that is different. Most noticeable during cornering as tyre contact on the road is not right. It's not hard to get HQ stubs - and they lower the car another 5/8ths of an inch.

Can I get rotors for the hq set up to still run early stud pattern or do i need torrie calipers etc.

Hoppers Stoppers will sell you new HQ rotors that have been drilled in early stud pattern. Not cheap though.

No you will need to change to 14 inch rims. Basically with 13 inch rims you have the choice of HR discs or Torana discs. So if you use the Torana stub axles you just have to get the best alignment you can and see how it performs.
I have spoken in the past about lowering the mounting point of the HR upper wishbone. This does compensate and improve handling as well.

Ken, What about HK, T, G stubs and brakes as I have this option available to me are they a better option being the same stud pattern etc and then I can at least have the same whels on the car being 14"s all round.

HKTG stubs are the same as HQ stubs, so you can run brakes from HK to HZ all on the same stub axle
