They either don't open or don't close Seriously though, a bonnet release was standard on FEs, it was made optional on FCs after November 1958 in line with cost cutting measures which had already seen the FC lose its chrome gutter molds, coloured floor mats and of course the reduction in interior trim choices. Most of the surviving ones seen have the optional bonnet release. Hope this helps John

now that's what I call a perfect definition of an FC John, a cut price, pared down, poor man's FE

Weddo,
you just route the cable up the inner guard.
Cheers

Weld a tab onto the underside of the bonnet release lever, run the cable through the firewall, under the mudguard, through the skirt into the cavity between the radiator & grille then up to the newly welded tab with a neat hole drilled in it. You will need to anchor the outer part of the cable (just like it is done in the original fitment - but now underneath the latch). You will also need a longer cable - I think a HR cable is long enough for the conversion.

You do what? Johns Please resist all temptation to mention anything about long cables through the skirt and into the cavity! Kathi

I have never heard anything about this before. I have also never seen an FC without a bonnet release. Did they have a set up like an FB? The alternative seems like it would cost just as much as what it replaced. Something about this does not sound right. Regards Alex

Ken AS KEN said but then I welded the old holes up and had it chrome plated, install with stainless button heads ....show quality it's on a mates car I built then the next job was to cut a piece of stainless to cover the top small section of the grill frame that is usually painted ......FC427......

Alex, John is making that up about FC bonnet latches - All FC's have a release cable. Only FB's had the accessory lock.

Ken is correct but on the EK they were all fitted as standard. I have a new bonnet release kit with fitting instructions for FB's. Cheers, Tony.
