Pinpricks of rust in the chrome - how do you "cure" it?

Can you rub it down with a very light sandpaper then use clear varnish of some kind? Is there a liquid that cleans off the discolouring and another to "seal the chrome" again?

I have several of these little pinpricks appearing - thanks to the desert like weather conditions here in Ireland  - and I want to nip them in the bud early.

Paul it's difficult to stop as chrome plating is porous.

If its not too bad use some chrome polish, autosol etc., to get the visible rust off and then seal it with lots of quality car polishing wax, applied regularly. If the rust is more serious you can use steel wool first.

The trick is to keep it clean and sealed, ie polish regularly. Unfortunately, a damp environment is the worst situation in which to have to deal with this.

Paul as John said but if you use steel wool to clean the rust of ,there are quite a few grades just like sand paper from [ 3 which is course  all the way down to oooo very fine ] use a fine grade which won't scratch the chrome   ......FC427.....
