I am in the process of repainting  the firewall and inner guards on my 59 FC.  Factory colour is black. Can anybody tell me if the original finish is semi gloss or full gloss.  I suspect it was semi.  Also what is the gloss level of the subframe and front end from the factory?

Keith, I used satin powder coat for the cross member and we used flattened two pack for the inner guards to match the original finish as best we could. See here, http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php/topic,10350.40.html. I'm sure they were never this good ex factory, but I'm not sure if anyone would want to finish all this as badly as the factory did Tongue.

So, as long as you only use high gloss for the appropriate engine ancilliaries, breathers, pulleys, air cleaner, regulator etc., it should look pretty authentic.

regards

Now that I've got the beige with the grey, I'm looking for the cream, the bone, the ivory and the off white
