I just received the current copy of Wheels magazine and was interested to note that a Bugatti Veyron can accelerate to 300 kph in 18.2 seconds, 10.7% less time than my FE takes to get to 100... It gets to 200kph in 7.4 seconds and maxs at 402 kph. Have to speak to Jeremy, it would be a fun drag race on Top Gear Cheers John

Hate to tell you this, John, but it seems you've just missed the Top Gear episode with the Bugatti in it. Last week, I think. And, yes, it's quite a car. Jeremy reckons it's the best car that's ever been built. Martin

It was on about 3 weeks ago, and reprised in this Monday's "Supercar" episode. They reckoned it was the supercar equivalent of the Concorde.
They cost £800,000 (if you can get one), but actually cost VW £5,000,000 to build. They're losing a fortune on every one, but they built it to prove it could be done: the supercar to end all supercars.
W16 engine (two V8s bolted together). Incredible car.

Yeah, saw both episodes. Nice enough car, but....it just doesn't have the character of a FE! Speed isn't everything.

Great episode to watch. Plenty of 'facts & figures' on the machine. The one I remember most (and hopefully correctly) was that from a standing start, the Bugatti Veyron could give a McLaren (previously the world's fastest production car) a 120mph head start, and the Bugatti would be first to 200mph! Pretty respectable acceleration. Jeremy did say in the show that you needed to see about a mile up the road before putting your foot down, because you would be there pretty quickly!

English newspapers yesterday, ran a story about the owner of the new bugatti doing 40mph in a 25 mph zone loosing control and hitting a lamp post the car was written off... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/6423241.stmThat extra 15 mph obviously was just too much!!!!!
