hey guys ,, anyone know if the axels in a standard vs commodore diff would snap when i put my new mini spool in ?

If so any suggestions on the right axels that will hold up and fit straight in ?    

          OH ......... and the rear end is IRS aswell..

v8 or 6 cylinder? stock or worked? and are you going to be running stockies with a 50-60 series tyre? or some big rims with real low profiles? stockies are much better to run with a minispool, as they dont put as much strain on yr axles. (hope that makes sense...)

i got a mate with a minispool in a stock v6 vn that gets thrashed and the axles are lasting.....vs diffs are a fair bit stronger too!

this might sound a bit strange,
but somewhere in your driveline needs to be weaker than the rest and much preferably something cheap to replace,
so the axles on a commomly available and cheap rear end would be a safe bet,

  Hi Dodger,
Vn onwards axles are tuff as. Plenty of tuff cars run them with no problems.

For obvious reasons I assume that you are talking Fe-fc wheel arches, if untubbed would mean a 225-235 tyre max.

You'd be surprised how well an lsd banjo would cope in there.

A  lsd 9" with vn axles or a late lsd borgwarner would be near on indestructable.

  Shoulda read the post properly first time, Doh.

All depends on how tough the engine is.

In Vn onwards sticky rubber and 400 odd hp will tear the trailing arm mounts out of the body if you can get it to launch hard enough. Huh

I think the axle strength would be the least of your worries.

Im confused i thought you were asking about an independant rear suspension which is  different to a vn onwards  live axle which does have two axles and the irs has two drive shafts not unlike front cv joints.
irs is not really suited for hi horse power and putting the power to  the ground easily, ive seen vt commodes used for drag use, toss the irs and install nine inches.
