Yes billy all the interior is original the outside would be 90% I had to replace both inner and outer sills 3 floor pans..bottom left quarter panel and usual rust around headlights and tops and bottoms of guards I left the little dents and scrapes cause every mark tells a story. Maybe one day when finances allow I’ll do a full respray

13  Technical Board / General Technical / Ring sizes on: August 09, 2021, 09:50:19 AM
I have a set of     3. 1/16 STD rings
What size pistons are these for
They came with the car and was told there for the motor that was in it and it’s a B motor
Putting the ring into the cylinder to check the gap and the gap looks way to big at least 5mm
Pistons have 7406474 stamped on top
Thanks
14  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Piston markings on: July 18, 2021, 07:57:53 AM
Thanks Vern
I’ve checked both pistons with the verniers at the top, at the Gudgon pin and at the bottom and there the same measurements, sat them side by side and heights are the same as well.. the dimple in the middle of the piston with the 7406474 number only but the 7406474 LO piston has the dimple about 1/4 of an inch from the edge of the piston head facing forward.only thing I haven’t checked is the ring grooves like you mentioned to see if there are any extra holes or any small differences..I’m only needing the one piston as when I pulled the motor down every compression ring was broken and on one piston a piece of broken ring worked it’s way up under the other piece of ring and spread the ring groove, straight away I figured the bore would be knackerd but luck was with me there’s not a mark in it
Thanks for the info Vern

16  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Dash light problem on: May 27, 2021, 09:01:19 PM
Problem solved...after having dash in and out at least six times and just as many new bulbs it turned out to be the globe holder  itself...for some reason it seems the bulbs were not making contact with the earth part in the holder..replaced it with a good used holder and now have dash lights...small things cause the most headaches,
17  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Dash light problem on: May 26, 2021, 07:40:52 PM
Thanks Ken I tried just pulling the globe holder out until I could just see the light and it is on as with the rest of the dash lights... I have an earth jumper wire onto the body and the dash as it was out..every time I put the dash back in and do the two screws back up again that one light goes out....I’m starting to think maybe a break in that wire that goes to the globe and it separates when the dash is in the right position..

Can something inside these gauges collapse so as the dash light won’t illuminate I have the red lights when I turn ignition on and I have the fuel gauge and speedo lights illuminated and I know the light is working but just not showing through gauge...it’s got me going nuts
19  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Wiper shaft bushes on: May 26, 2021, 03:48:29 AM
Fraze another good use for the old hinge bushes I found was for the gear linkage rods, I bought the new rubber grommets for the bottom end of the steering column but found they were still sloppy so fitted the old brass bushes in the grommets took all the extra play out of the gear changes, I never throw anything away as you find a use for them eventually
20  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Wiper shaft bushes on: May 24, 2021, 04:21:21 PM
Hi Fraze
When I replaced the pins and bushes in my front door hinges I kept the old brass bushes..I had the same problem when I replaced the vacuum wiper with electric motor...the rubber bushes were perished..I cut the old brass bushes down and used them in the wiper arm holes,I soldered  them in the arms and they fit and work well hope this helps
Cheers Dennis
