Thanks everyone for your help on this. It seems that I am missing the cap for the horn contact. All I have for the contact is the T shape split pin and the spring. I need a cylindrical cap. Are these available or maybe I could make one from a piece of brass tubing. I haven't worked our how to post photos yet.

I am using the red GMH Shop Manual FE and FC Series reference page 227 steering wheel and related parts. My question is how can I connect the horn switch contact wiper behind the steering wheel on a 59 FC wagon? I see that there is an insulated hole in the base of the wheel assembly for item 5, contact and spring assembly - horn connector, and I have the contact with the spring. How do I fit these and what rides over the surface the contact surface of item 3, contact and cable assembly - horn? Which way up does the horn contact go? What holds the contact and spring in position? Also what gives the horn blowing ring the spring back effect? I feel that I might be missing a part but cannot find it on the diagram. Your assistance is appreciated.
If you don't have access to the stated manual  this might not make any sense.

Hi John and others for your contributions. John your photos and description are very clear and make a lot of sense. I had managed to assemble the switch but don't think that I have got the 3 balls in the correct place after seeing your photos. Also the switch doesn't slid smoothly so I needed to back the screws off a bit. I have the 3 balls on top of the 3 centre springs (9 springs in all). Time to remove again and place the balls as per the photo.
Putting the switch back together is do-able but extra hands would have made it easier. I removed the switch entirely and assembled it while holding it like a sandwich. Then I wrapped insulation around both ends before screwing it in. I used solvent on the insulation tape while pulling it put while the screws were not fully in. We will need to learn these restoration tips when all new spare parts stock runs out.

The fuel/petrol tank in my FC wagon is very dented but quite solid. I have started to remove the dents and it is coming up quite well. I have a question in that it has one particular side dent in the corner diagonally opposite the fuel filler pipe. It looks like it is factory pressed so don't know if I should remove it. Can anyone please tell me if all four corners should be basically the same or does one have a side pressing. I haven't got access to my wagon to see if there is a reason for the dent/pressing. I think a wagon van or ute would have the same fuel tank. Thanks.

Thanks for your responses. The switch seems to be in good condition just in many pieces. I will try to put it back together. A job where you need 3 hands.

I can't believe that no one has ventured to cleaning and rebuilding an indicator switch! Very simple, just need to know where the balls fit in. Can find nothing on line for Holden or any other make for that matter. Unfortunately mine sprang apart before I could see the correct positions. Probably need to find another one somewhere. I might need to do a video when I can get it together..

I've a question for somone that has taken apart and reassembled a 6 wire indicator switch on an FC. I have 3 small ball bearings but cannot find where they go. I have the switch cleaned and back together without the balls and it seems to function mechanically though not tested electrically. Nine springs fitted. Do the balls go on the centre spring under each brass contact block? Should there be more than 3 balls? Thanks for any assistance.

Gear lever and upper steering column bearing support (honey pot) WANTED for FC. Part number 7409292. Trying to find out how to add a photo.
This is the bell shaped housing behind the steering wheel that the column change lever is attached to.

Also require a steering drag link plug. This is the 1 1/8 threaded plug at both ends of the drag link that has the split pin pass through.

Would need to be sent to Perth.
