Ken ..I assume you have checked all the possible points where things can fail or change ... shackle rubbers crumbled , ubolts and flat rubbers moved , spring hanger rotated . front eye bolt rusted of where it fits .cracked leaf...there is a measurement you can check when you work on springs to be assured you have it all set correctly ..in the back of manual ..check that first both sides ..Vern .

Thanks for thinking of me Errol ..its easily done isn't it ...bugger ... I have drilled a hole in line with the broken lug and put a short fat screw in there , it is a bit loose in the slot in the dissy shaft but engine runs well enough for display , we feel we can improve on that even more ..so ill be asking for all the old busted buttons soon ...keep well Vern .

Awh !!!!! come on fellas , someone out there must have a spare rotor button , I built a display engine for the museum at fagan park , and unbeknowns to me the lifting sling dislodged the dissy cap , so when we hit the starter it sheared the little drive lug off up inside the button ..just a good workable second hand will do , i'll pay for it and post if not near Dural area ...Vern ..

Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Cork Gaskets

I can also confirm , I recently used rubberised cork gasket for sideplate and rocker , clean any trace of oil or paint any thing off the side plate and rocker surface where the gasket sits , use silicone sealer to adhere the gasket to the surface of the tin ware , on the rocker I put a couple of long thin strips of wood along the gasket and a few bull dog clips and left for couple days before fit ..DONT PUT sealant between gasket and cylinder head. I did however put sealant both sides of sideplate gasket ..DONT OVER TIGHTEN ...Vern ..

Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Rear main bearing seal for Grey motor

Rod ..I too have chosen to use the old seal material .it is wedge shaped if you look end on , the narrow edge in first , what ever seal you choose soak it in oil , and good drop on assembly as you do with your bearings ..I put the crank in 3 or 4 times , pain in arse , but less pain than a leaky seal ..when you first put seal in and work it in with a curved tool , then the crank flattens it a bit , if when you first put seal in measure it and say 10mm , after crank in and out it has flattened and say 12mm and wont push in any more that indicates crush on the seal and crank should turn by hand ,if it drags ,it a bit tight ,Vern
