661  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: 186 / 202...? on: January 30, 2005, 09:31:54 AM
1st reason is I like the HP lettering and I can say although it has a later model motor it's still a 60's motor.

2nd, I like it at the drags when they say"in the left lane we have Leon from seven hills with his 179 powered FC holden. although it is really 192ci

3rd, I dont want to go through all the hassles with blue slippers and engineers again.

a blue 3.3 block has to comply with the adr's of the year of the block.

53 views and only one reply...? Huh

is there anywhere i can FIND this info? i've tried googling but i get practically nothing on modifying a 186 - just manufacturer's specs a million times over.

anyone?

Ive been looking too, and what was australias favourite six seems to be forgotten about, if anyone comes accross a good informative sight on modifying holden sixes let us know.
I also plan to use blue crank and rods in my next rebuild, we did it with a mates motor but we had to take the blue crank and red block into a engine shop for machining. it went pretty hard and went from being slower to faster than my car ( seriously we would drag each other at least once a day for about 3 years).
try searching for sites including LJ and LC toranas, those guys seem to take there red sixes more serious than over holden people.
663  General / General Board / Re: Air compressor ? ? on: January 29, 2005, 10:42:09 AM
k mart have something simular but much cheaper, I have one, its 40L and 2.5 hp and even has pump up tyres, you can do small jobs and bigger primer jobs.
I got mine to do primer and door jambs and stuff so when the day comes I only need to use someones nice big compressor for a day and everything else is already done.
as you probably know, if you try to apply colour it will just keep running out of puff.
big W have a compressor for i think around $80 but has been on specail for lower, it has a 6L tank and looks like a neat unit for airbrushing and you dont have to cart a big compressor through your house. from memory 15 years ago you would pay $400+ for a hobby compressor to use with a airbrush.

665  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: HQ Carby on a Grey on: January 25, 2005, 10:00:34 AM
I am sure I did this when I was 19 and just mucking around, I stuck a red 202 carb on the grey, no new gaskets or nothing, seemed faster, sounded fast and throaty but started using more fuel.
from memory I took the red carb base of and stuck the red top to the grey base. I then whacked it on and drove it till the timing gear one day kicked the bucket.

667  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Correct sump shape on: November 13, 2003, 02:56:14 PM
I had a LX sump on the first red I fitted to my car, I didn't even think about clearance till I got to the end of the road in the test drive and had to do a 10 point turn to get back. A couple of days later I fixed the problem with a EH sump and pickup.
668  General / General Board / Re: Today is Halloween and I hate cats, CAT BOWLIN on: November 13, 2003, 01:37:39 PM
Watch out man, in the "Rock this town" video clip you see a stray cat bowl down every one else in the bowling alley, you wanna be carefull if you go bowling down hillbilly hellCATS, poleCATS, stray CATS or the tomCATS as there could always be a faster pussyCAT (You know that song by the cramps) strike back at you.
Hey Alex I did microwave my cat once to dry it after it was running around in the rain. It must have hated being in there becuase it never went out in the rain again after I dried it on high for 15 minutes, it also stopped running out on the road. This is a good way to stop your cat from getting a cold or wetting the furniture and I would recomend it to anyone who truly cares about their cat as I found it also somehow stops them from becoming roadkill. if your microwave is 800w or more you could have it dry in about 13 minutes. we dont have a cat anymore but I always do this favour for my neihbours cats when it rains out of kindness and a love for cats.
