yes leon's car is stunning looks fantastic wish i had half the dedication he has to persavere in the conditions he did my only issue and maybe there is a reason what's the deal with the back wheels also wish i got to have a better look around was there nearly all day and saw hardly anything spose that's the price you pay for being popular having to stop and talk every 5 steps I had a problem with the back wheels, ive lost my socket to undo the wheel nuts, apparently the sockets that came with the heel nuts are unique so the wheels cant be stolen, when i got the flat tyre on the way to wintersun someone stopped with a 11/16 tube socket that we got the nuts of with so i bought one but its a different brand and it wont get the nuts of, it just strips the chrome off so after stuffing around for about 2 hours on saturday i gave up and had another search through the car and shed for the socket but had no luck, maybe i lost it somewere on the way up to QLD, i was nearly going to take out the seats to see if somehow it got under the carpet. on saturday night i started to clean it up, i took it to a diy car wash at 12:30 and was there till nearly 4 am trying to scrub of the old paint on the tyres to repaint the whitewalls, usually at work i can just blow it all off the tyres in 5 minutes with our pressure cleaner but the one at the diy car wash had stuff all pressure. i got home at about 4am and started to paint the tyres but each coat was taking about 40 minutes just to skin up, i put the last coat on after 8 am and it was just skinned up when i left, by time i got there it had started flaking off everywere i guess becuase it had no time to set and bond to the tyre. i plan to get some chrome wheels with whitewalls, aslo need to do the bumpers and interior and get the supercharger on. i had a look around for a bit but then i had to cut my looking short to go for a wee and didnt get back for a second look becuase i was talking to people every 5 steps too. it sucks when you see pictures later and realise what cars you missed.

when you see a car like a mercedes benz clk on 20" rims with rubber band tyres sitting 70mm of the ground you know that the car wont handle as well as it should, i know of alot of wedding cars exactly like this, but with a 1950's holden. or a 1930's hotrod i think lower stiffer springs can only be a advantage, i think anyone with a stocker and a modified 48-ej can also confirm it. i couldnt even find good shock absorbers in the standard HR front end length but in the HQ length suitable with the lowered springs there is a big range of perfomance shocks. I think its plain stupid to apply the law to pre ADR cars, we dont have esp, srs, crumble zones, irs or even panhard rods. i cant see how it affects pedestrian safety, being lower not only makes short pedestrians more visible but but reduces chances of pedestrians going under the car instead of over the bonnet in a collision with a pedestrian. another thing i dont understand is when they say cars are designed to absorb each others impact and that raising or lowering a car affects it by changing the bumper height. that is so weird, look at the bumper on a landcruiser compared to a bumper on a mini compared to a bumper on a mack truck, they arent all that level with each other, its all bullshit.

It still has to get through Parliament before it can be made law ... Thats the idea of contacting our local members and objecting so they can oppose this on our behalf so it does not get through Parliament and become law ........FC427.......
as far as i knew its passed and comes in august 1 apparently although you can still have a lowered car if it was lowered before august 1 insurance companies are saying they wont cover cars with any lowering without a engineers report from august 1 on, that is probably about 200-300 of the cars at the AHD next weekend that will be not covered

Leon if they measure it from the lowest headlight your in deep shit you might have to fit 30'' tyres to get roadworthy ........FC427....... i think they are taking it from the wheel arch to the axle so after finishing my paint and bodywork i now find out the wheel arches need to be radiused. these pollies are a pain in the arse, all this is becuase of one fatal accident that involved a 4x4 that was raised. how come when the hundreds of people die from bad road conditions they dont ban shit roads. conveniently micheal daley is away on a holiday till after his new law comes in.

doesnt adding a HR front end drop the front some amount without even lowering, just like 70 seeries radial tyres also would? does that mean if you have a front end from a HR fitted but on your engineers report it says nothing about being lowered that you can get defected till you get new papers or change back to the king pin drum brake front end? now there is zero tolerance to go up or down in height even 2mm without a engineers report does that mean everyone on 70 or 65 series radial tyres needs a engineers report if they ever have to re register? I wonder how much proof micheal daley has to show that the stock height and unmodified suspension and tyres on a FE or FC give safer handling than modified to the point it will reduce our annual road toll.

ha ha, i thought this was going to be about stockers, the COMMONdore look, were at a event they all line up and most people seem to look at the first two and assume all the rest are exactly the same. stockers are ok, you cant get more period correct than a origional car with a rubber floor on crossply tyres with no seatbelts and just enough accsessories to be typical of what a FE or FC might have been like in its day(not the whole friggin nasco catologue fitted). i also think you loose some of the feel updating the engine, gearbox, brakes, seats etc the down side is youve seen one youve seen them all, just the colours vary but how many people really remember your car, how many people are going to pick your car at a car show of 500 cars and take a photo for a screen saver on there computer or mobile phone.
from what ive seen on ebay with all old cars be it a 1932 ford or a hr holden modified cars seem to pull higher money, i dont know why, personally i prefer to buy a standard car and modify it to my taste but that doesnt i dont plan to sell ever so if the value of my car is $1or $1000000 i dont care.
i personally like old stuff, i updated my motor but the motor is still from about 1963, i wanted it to be fast, i like fast cars, to get it fast by todays standards it cost alot of money and some relibilty and fuel economy is sacrificed, i guess that is why people bite the bullet and fit a $1000 later model engine instead of spending $7000 on a red waiting to explode. i like FC holdens, i grew up around them and have significant childhood memories of being in modified ones they almost have the style of the beautiful american cars but are swifter to drive and have almost half the weight, they are also from the country i am most proud of. but like most factory built cars there is room for improvement when you are rebuilding a car at your own pace at home instead of it being quickly built on a assembly line, alot of ugly joins and seems can be done away with for a nicer smoother look, badges used to advertise the car to other motorists in traffic when it was new can be taken away for cleaner smoother looking panels, if you know you wont be driving on a 20 mile dirt track to your farm each day you can reduce the ground clearance for a sleeker lower wider look. you can even choose your exact favourite colour instead of the factory colours and ofcourse pearls, candy and metal flake has been used since the 50's, the only new colours are the flip flop ones wich can go from green to purple or gold to purple, modern colours common today are dark metallics, silver, black or white. in the end you have a car to suit its owner, and usually something that stands out

i plan to fit this weekend. I think i take out the windscreen clip in the bows starting from the middle may need to trim back some of the listing brush glue onto teeth tuck the edges in fit the windlacing tap in the retainer with a rubber mallet trim the edges off glue and clamp around the windscreen trim the excess fit the screen does that sound rite?
i think i will need a rubber mallet with vynil glued on some glue, maybe kwikgrip in a tin scissors what should i push in the edges with? can i round the corners of a paint scraper or is there a better tool?
