42  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: making the choke cable longer on: February 06, 2010, 07:00:20 PM
bonnet cable doesnt match wipers & headlights, i have new outer cables and inners and some standard fc chocke cables, just need to attach the longer cable to the FC knob

45  General / General Board / Re: The death of the Foulcan? on: January 13, 2010, 09:51:59 PM
Let me just say right up front: I dislike Falcons Undecided
My grandfather never had one, my father never had one, I will never have one and if my son knows what's good for him, he will never have one Grin

But I can't help thinking that this may be the death of the Aussie built big6/V8 sedan altogether.

Sure Holden has some export contracts which have helped a bit, but the trend is away from large cars in Australia and towards fuel efficient hybrids.
My family car is a VZ Commodore but how many other forum users have Commodores, or Falcons for that matter?

Probably the minority I would think
Food for thought.

true, me, my dad and my grandad never had falcons, grandad had a fairmont and fairlane, i have a LTD, falcons are poverty cars, and we dont have a commodore, unless you include the unregistered VK berlina down the side of the house, we have a vp calais becuase commodores are for poorpers.

falcons and commodores are not only the best in price range but the easiest and most affordable to obtain parts for when the car is no longer brand new.

hey Pete, i think last time i saw your car was at kooragang!
that was after you got your p's and took out the grey.

is the commodore diff cut down yet, if so how much did it cost?
we will have to race one day, ive still got the same 179 block i had then.
47  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: more headliner questions on: January 11, 2010, 10:34:11 PM
according to the manual i first fit the windlace, then trim the edges of the vinyl,
the only way i can get the windlace to stay in place is to bash the spike strip in wich i just pulled all open and straightened to fit the headliner,

do i have to bash it in then pull it back out after the headliner is trimed?

and then when the time comes to tuck in the headliner, what is the best way to aply the glue to the windlace, headliner and spike strip and then get it into place without getting glue on the white headliner or white windlace?
48  Technical Board / Restoration Help / more headliner questions on: January 10, 2010, 06:21:38 PM
do i trim the headliner at the edge of the windscreen opening or does the vynil fold over the edge of the opening?
49  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: hoodlinig listing wires on: January 09, 2010, 03:22:50 PM
I have one I could post you if needed. A coat hanger that is
thanks for the offer but i just got some after 3 hrs of searching shops,  they are plastic coated but i can pick it of if need be.
now i have to clip it up and work out how to trim the edges of the headliner to shape
50  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: hoodlinig listing wires on: January 09, 2010, 12:54:03 PM
It's only mild steel. I think you could probably use a coathanger straightened out.

Ken
thanks, i was just looking at it thinking coat hanger, i will go and check the wardrobe.
51  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: hoodlinig listing wires on: January 09, 2010, 12:05:22 PM
after a big search ive found one of the short wires, does anyone know where i might buy wire for the other piece, is it mild steel, spring steel or anything? all i can think of is bunnings
52  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: hoodlinig listing wires on: January 09, 2010, 10:55:50 AM
shit, now i recall that there was one wire in two seperate peices, how would i go about making that?
53  Technical Board / Restoration Help / hoodlinig listing wires on: January 09, 2010, 10:36:10 AM
i pulled out my windscreen, scratched the cowl vent doing it, now ready to start finally fitting my hoodliner but i noticed i am missing a wire, its the 3rd from the front in a wagon.
all the other wires are thick except 1 wich is thin.
is the 3rd wire from the back thick or thin?
i have thick wire here but if its a thin wire where do i buy thin wire on a saturday?
is there another wire in a wagon rooflinig i could copy to make the 3rd one back?

i got one from the local robbos, quality looks poor and it was $10 dearer than american autos but American autos were shut and $10 fuel away.

Leon,

How tall is tall. I have a couple in the shed (3 Red ones and a chrome one). I'm in Penrith.

Rusty

a tall one is taller than a standard one, i think the extra clearance in height required for the rockers is about 1/4 inch

this is what is in there now

craig, if i can meet you at your house early hours in the morning or i might go check out rusty's, reason is i am waiting to make a idler pulley bracket and the way i make it depends on what rocker cover i can use.
58  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: tall red motor rocker cover on: November 07, 2009, 07:45:42 PM
i have the KC, it doesnt clear the guide plates, they fit with reds heads becuase  they dont need guide plates i have a sheetmetal alloy cover on at the moment but you have to tilt it to get it off and i wont be able to tilt it without removing the blower wich is going on real soon.
i am after one tonight or tomorrow.
i have a feeling the thinner walls of a pressed steal one will fit, i just dont want one with 202 written on it, mines a HP, if ithe chrome is rusty i will just sand it and paint it 2k.
