Hi All,
I'm about to mount a period towbar to my FC sedan and I have a question regarding mounting points.

Although I have a chassis hole that lines up with one of the bar tabs, there is no welded nut or thred to bolt onto. Should I leave it and just use the mounting bolts with the rear bumper, or do something with the tabs?

I'll be towing a 750kg vintage caravan.

Thanks for the tow bar Mark. My mate picked it up from your son over the weekend.

Just a quick question, the plates on each side seem to align well to the bumper mounting bolts, gen there are two tabs. One seems to align to a bolt hole well but the other doesn't. Any idea if that's normal and only one is needed or if i need to drill another?

Any advice on what other things I need to consider is welcomed.

Prefer CBR and surrounds, but easy freight okay too.

Yep a themed taxi. My car is a Sydney car and hasn't seen any service as a taxi, I'm just looking to have some fun with friends and family. Nothing permanent except a taxi rail if I can find one.

City Cabs ran in Hobart and I've found their colour scheme and logo's would be best for my project.

I just read through your restoration post. Looks like a great car to own. I've been spending hours on research too, don't you wish the taxi companies just kept images, records, adverts etc. for us

I'll let you know if I come across anything for Black & White Taxi's.

2 Pack. I'm not sure what brand but I can call the paint & panel shop to find out. I'm very happy with it. Even in direct sunlight there is no colour loss i.e., apparently black can sometimes have a faint chalk/gray appearance in direct sunlight. I dont know why...maybe cheaper paints or a bad job.

Another spare minute....so here are some more pics.

Hi All,

I have a small project that requires the old City Cabs logo that appeared on the Hobart FC cab doors and roof light in '59+.

I can only find very low res. ones on the net and they are all on the TRAX Model TR13H model.

If anyone has a clear image of the logo and the print on the roof light I'd really appreciate you posting or emailing it to me. Even a close-up shot from a Trax model may do the job.

I've been in contact with the company now running City Cabs and although they have some pictures and business cards, they have been unable to scan and send them to me.

Here is what I've been able to find, but I need a clearer one.

Yeah I was lucky. When I bought the car I though there would be more work required, but the car has been well looked after its entire life.


Here are a few pics as it progressed through the painting process.

I then drove the partially naked FC down to Moruya on the south coast where the remaining body work would be done and paint applied.

Short stop and Bungendore.


Arrived at Moruya Paint and Panel.


All the guys in the workshop were looking forward to this job and within an hour, they had started.

Then it was time to start prep for paint.

Off with the rest of the trim.




And tackle the old door rubbers. Some were part rubber part black silicone.



The Dremel helped keep the rear 1/4 badge pins in tact by carefully cutting the clip. Although saving the badge pins, I then had to search and search for replacement retaining clips.
