41  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: Drivers window regulator FC on: May 17, 2014, 10:53:35 AM
Mine gave out last week too.  The handle kept turning around without moving the glass up or down.  Luckily I had a spare and have swapped it over, so for me all's good now.

I thought it might be that the spline inside the handle was worn, but it was the spindle inside the regulator that seems to be turning free of the cog part, but only when under load.

My question is (and contribution to this post) can that be repaired? as everything else was in great condition.

You'll be fine with that setup.  We did Melbourne to Perth and return in our Teardrop for the last Nationals.

Going by the petrol bought on 21.5.1969.

8 (Imp) gallons = 36 Litres.  And £1/10/02 = $3.02

302 cents divided by 36 litres = 8.3 cents per litre.

When I first began driving (1964) I bought discounted petrol at a mates Hire Machinery place for 3/- a gallon.  That worked out around 6.6 cents a litre.

Bring back the good old days!!!!!   Grin   Grin   Grin

51  For Sale and Wanted / Auction and Trade Links / Melbourne Auction 26th October 2013 on: September 13, 2013, 03:45:56 PM
From their Press Release.

Theodore Bruce , Australia 's oldest auction house, established in 1878, has consigned an
international-class group of cars for its auction of the evening of Saturday 26th October 2013
at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne in conjunction with Motorclassica International
Concours d'Elegance and Classic Motor Show.

Two very co llectible Holden's, "Australia's own car", are also featured. The 1947 Holden
Prototype Number 4, "KJ-400" is in fact the oldest Australian Holden in existence and its
significance, not to be underestimated , lies in the fact that it marks the birth of Australian car
manufacturing per se and of the country's emergence as an industrial nation post WW2. It
has been in current ownership for over 33 years. The other Holden is a remarkably correct
and complete 1977 Group C A9X Hatch and perhaps the most original of these 33 sports
racing cars built.

I paid $10.00 for a mint one at Bendigo Swap last November. It will be interesting to see what they will bring on eBay.

Check out "The Age" newspaper on-line.  It's free and you can scan as many pages as you wish.

The Age July 1955  http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=MDQ-9Oe3GGUC&dat=19550709&printsec=frontpage&hl=en

I've been using it for quite a while for Family History,  To find car adverts, click the left and right arrows to move to the next page or type in a date to get the paper you want.

Enjoy, Red

60  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: New windscreen or not on: June 18, 2013, 11:53:51 AM
Not sure about QLD, but in VIC it is basically up to the person doing the Road Worthy Certificate, if he (she) thinks there are no chips or scratches especially in the field of vision for the driver then they won't ask for a new one.
