2  General / General Board / Spray Painter Wanted on: March 05, 2023, 12:14:28 PM
After a small brake fluid spill on the front mudguard ......... Grrrrrrr!

Can anyone recommend a good spray painter in South Eastern suburbs (Berwick, Narre Warren, Hallam, Dandenong areas) someone who knows FE - FC Holdens and is sympathetic to colour matching aged and faded paint and blending in new paint to patina.

Kevin

G'day Tex, the vacuum pump on your windscreen washer bottle.  How did you overcome the diaphragm inside the vacuum pump that sits above the water bottle lid?  I have pulled half a dozen apart to find they are all perished.

I turned some up on a lathe out of rubber block, using a 4" angle grinder (as a lathe tool) to remove excess rubber.  Then cut the rods, fitted the rubber cushion/slides and welded the rods back up.  Filed and re-painted you can't tell the difference.

Sorry Steve, I can't find the steering wheel anywhere.  Bugger!!!!  PM sent.

If you mean the steering wheel that is suitable for restoration I have one. $50 Narre Warren.

If you mean a good one for your restoration, then mine is worn somewhat from use, and needs a bit of work to make it ideal.
9  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: WTB FE FC Holden Generator on: February 06, 2020, 03:26:37 PM
Thanks everyone!!  Bought one at the Berwick Swap in as new condition.  None of these rip off ePay prices!! Got it for $30, he would have taken $20, but I knew $30 was a bargain.

13  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: FC ute tailgate skin on: July 22, 2019, 06:06:32 PM
I ordered mine through the Rust Repair guy in Eltham, VIC.  I wanted to pick it up to save postage costs.  No way he said, they come from QLD and postage was added either to his shop in Eltham, or to my address.  I chose my place (saved me picking it up for the same price)  When it arrived I was a bit disappointed in the gauge metal used ......... just a bit thin, lighter than I was expecting.  Ask what gauge they are when comparing prices.

Hi Fraze, try Australia Post if you can get it boxed up in Tassy.  Max length is 105cm and .25M cubed.  No need to tell them what it is.

https://auspost.com.au/sending/check-sending-guidelines/size-weight-guidelines

I posted a mudguard (for another car) to Sydney by keeping the box to under 1.0M long

Worth a try.
17  General / General Board / Re: Brake issue on: September 19, 2018, 10:11:49 PM
I just had a similar problem. Rolling up to the lights the brakes would stay on even when I lifted the peddle to roll to a stop.  Then when I took off the brakes stayed on for a bit.  I did what you did change the fluid, adjusted the brakes which made it worse.  Bit the bullet and pulled them down, the front shoes on the front wheels were due to be relined the rest were still plenty of meat.  All the rear pistons in all four wheel cylinders were locked in tight what at first looked like rust but on closer inspection appeared to be solid gummed up grease.  Cleaned everything, new set of rubbers in all wheel cylinders, fresh brake fluid, new linings, reassembled, bleed, adjusted and everything is back to normal.   Grin Grin Grin
