If you are trying to work out what number plate you should have on your 1958 car then you need to work out what letters and numbers there were in those years, My December 1956 FE had original GOA 001 and my November 1959 FC had original HBA 592. It sounds like your car is going to fit in between these.

You could go for this kind of look. . At least you can take it to the shops and not worry too much about it. I have had so much fun in this car and it has taken me all over this country already. Or this kind of look This car has also given me enormous enjoyment and fulfilment and is always driven, but I always worry where I take it. I have gotten better but still. This is my pride and joy.

Went through the tank sealing process on the weekend and while rinsing the KBS Rust Blast from the inside of the tank, i measured the tanks capacity. It took 80 ltrs to fill it to the top, so that has doubled the amount of fuel i can carry now. The tank has been sealed inside now, and it takes 96 hrs to fully cure. This KBS Tank sealer is amazing stuff. It actually expands, like expander foam, while it is curing. Then it cures as hard as a rock. Just have to do the outside now with KBS Rustseal, then it is ready to use. I still havent finished the spare wheel well and the coating of the floor the tank fits into, but that will be next, photos to follow. Also remade and lined the Glove box to house the new car radio/ bluetooth/ usb, and the MSD 6AL ignition booster. Just love being in the shed on a cold day with the fire going and the footy on the radio, having a beer with my Dad while also working on the car.

I'm expecting the size to be somewhere 65- 70ltrs, instead of the standard 40ltrs. I won't know until i fill it once it is sealed, hopfully this weekend. The tank has been sandblasted inside and out, and then i put it all together. Now i am going to seal it with KBS Tank sealer then paint the outside of the tank with KBS rust seal.

This workshop is not your typical Panel beating workshop, most workshops get you to have your car delivered then strip it, then in 12 months time decide to start to do some work on it. At least with yours there is always something getting done to it, and slowly you are getting closer to the end. Well done and keep up the good work Deano. Cheers Scotty

My opinion on the best Grey motor to rebuild is the EJ. As for the Canadian Block, MYTH. The reason the EJ is the best is that Holden put all there refinments and technology at the time into building the EJ motor to be the most reliable and economical it posibly could be before changing to the Red motor and the last of every model has proven to be the best. Cheers Scotty

My very first FE/FC (and mind you i have had a few since) was a business sedan and it was in about the same condition as this, same colour too. I only paid $75 for it and that was 24 years ago. I think i still have parts from that car that get used. It's a pity that back then i didn't realise more about which parts to keep and which to throw out.
