it just started on sunday i was driving up the highway and the car popped out of third gear into neautral. i just put the clutch in and put it back in third and it was ok.
i travel on the highway every day and since sunday i has done it every time i have been driving on the highway for 10mins. it only does it once every trip. i never go above 70mph so its not like im flogging her. any ideas on what it could be?

27  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Grease points on: July 27, 2005, 09:38:19 PM
Hi all,

I had my car at the mechanics the other day and he said that a few of the grease points werent taking grease.
is this a problem that needs to be fixed? can i do this myself being of only limited mechanical experience.
I have a manual so i know where the grease points are.
is it just a matter of taking off the grease nipple cleaning out the buildup, replacing with a new grease nipple and packing new grease?
can new grease nipples be bought from supercheap or the likes and can you by grease guns that have enought pressure to fill the grease points.

any info will be greatly appreciated

hi all

when i fill my fuel tank full and park the car on even the slightest angle towards the left hand side of the car alot of fuel leaks out from under the cap. is this a common problem or is there a seal that i can get for my cap or a new cap all together?

any info would be appreciated

Guys being only 22 myself i think we need to give credit to this 19yr old in the HSV. he was probly just trying to park it where it was before he took it for a test drive. is it his fault that they put all those other cars in his way while he was gone. I think he has done a bloody stirling job to get it in that far. Well done young man! You keep trying to buy that HSV you want and while your at it stay the f*%k away from our FC's  Grin Grin Grin

40  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Gearbox recon. on: December 14, 2004, 04:51:25 AM

Hi all

my fc has a grey motor with 3 spd gearbox in it and the gearbox is leaking oil, actually its not even holding it, if i fill it 2 days later there is more on the garage floor than in the box. as well as making a light rattling noise when ive pressed the clutch while changing gears. it also grinds alot going from first to second and has just started doing it a bit from second to third as well. the mechanic said it will cost me $600 to change the seals and that in it.
now im not one to pretend to know the slightest thing about the inner workings of my car but surely i can have a crack at doing this myself for far less.
So now im throwing myself at the wisdom of the forum and asking for any and all info on doing this myself.

ive got a workshop manual so a bit of its in there - if use could just put it in laymens terms it would be great

what do i need to do it?
where will i get these parts, bits and pieces from?
how much will it cost?

thanks guys  Grin Grin Grin
