Sounds like crook needle & seat or sticking float. Suggest you get a clubbie to re-kit the carbie.
Good Luck Old-Blu  [suggest you attend to this ASAP 'cause you know where the dripping fuel drops onto!!!!  ]  kits available from most larger outlets.

Hi Guys & Girls. Congratulations to all the "TOP 10" cars & their owners!!! here is a question for the observant.
Who is the "quiet achiever" who built 2 of the top 10?
The answer is in the unravelling.[NSnoveleset]

Hi to you all.  FC VAN arrived home safely on Wed. arvo.
I would like to endorse all the preceeding comments and add our sincere thanks to the Canberra Team for their "SUPER EFFORT". I will remember the snaking line of FE & FCs as they made their way to Dalgety, the karaoke night [which in my view bonded the crowd & had us all laughing like teenagers.] The Presentation Night was superb .
Thanks to "Tailshaft Timmy" for taking us up to Thredbo and the walk from the Chairlift -- we know you didn't need that Tim after all you had already done!!
My congratulations to the National Delegates on the successful changes to the Judging system. Spreading the Trophies around the way this has turned out is "the way to go".
Whilst we are pleased to be safely Home,we do feel a bit flat after  a great time with such a friendly team of new and old friends.
looking forward to Phillip Island & will need to extract the digit to get my wagon finished. Thankyou from the two OLD-BLUs. Wink Wink

445  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: FE-EK Holden ute hard torneau cover on: November 23, 2004, 08:59:59 AM
Hi Guys;  We built our own f/glass canopy for the FC Ute
you refer to @ the last Nationals.
If you really want to make one yourselves I have a series of photos showing the process! If you cure the sides to fit over the edge of the tray[to help in waterproofing],then you create a problem with hinging it as the leading edge wants to "dig in" with the initial lift. After a great deal of effort we designed hinges that contained compression springs. this ment the 1st. move was UP then after that the gas struts took over .
Good luck!!  But it's a bit of a "brainbuster"

446  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: V6 Conversion for FC on: November 23, 2004, 05:21:18 AM
Duncan. Just to give you something to think about!
Pat Gardner @ V6 conversions [Moree 0267511243]
offers a drive in- drive out full conversion service.
He puts out an instruction pamphlet to show you step by step the full procedure [using his kits ].
to give you some ideaof costs; [2001 PRICES]
VS WIRING KIT TO FC   $375
ENG.MOUNTS                $200
FX-HR SUMP [with extended oil p/up ]    $150
VS/VT EXTRACTORS      $300
IDLER PULLEY  [replace p/steer if you want A/CON] $175
RACK & PINION KIT TO SUIT HR F/END    $450
BCM SIMULATOR [to suit your key--sec.bypass]        $300
a/con kit [compressor mount, etc]           $300
I purchased a VS insurance wreck & used g/box,brakes,computer,tunnel,diff etc.etc.             $3000
You will need an HR front end [or maybe struts??]
Probably a single piece tailshaft made up.
To comply with NSW rego. also a heater d/mister,hazzard lights, charcoal cannister.
Add to this a repaint ? &/or trim mods to suit trans tunnel.
As you can see even if you do all the work yourself [with an Engineer in tow] it would help if you were on good terms with your Bank Manager!!
The end result is spectacular, however it does not go all that differently to a 186 red motor properly tuned.
Anyhow get a quote from either CRS or V6Conversions & make an informed decision.
GOOD LUCK!   Smiley
CHEERS  OLD-BLU.

453  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: sandblasting? on: April 28, 2004, 08:05:58 AM
This is a little I can offer on the topic. I agree with streetneat . Humidity & time of day are very important! We start mid morning & finish mid-afternoon.It is important to air-blow & prime ASAP.-- use a 2 pac red etch. As each panel is blasted, clean & paint while the blaster continues. [costs more, but the metal is sealed for a longer time as panel repairs are made ] paint strip large flat panels to avoid heat distortion. Blasting does not remove body filler. Do this b4 blasting.                       We use ilmenite [black fines]   my ute had 3 trips to the blaster! [1] initially, just to see what we were up against  [2] after unplugging the rails [3] after all die-grinding & angle grinding were finished.  as Streetneat says go 4 blasting (a good operator will not stretch metal) & in any case you want the job to last!
