"Jokes" aside... we all know that both these models are spectacular & much sought after now. I can clearly recall the 1st FE I saw [Jan 1957]. It was owned by one of the Lecturers @ Armidale Teacher's College. It was cream with a red roof. We "drooled" over this, wishing we could own one like it. Pretty much all others were driving FJ Holdens with the odd Hillman, Vauxhall, Chev, Morris & Ford thrown in for good measure. Great memories of life lived @ a more gentle pace. The demise of the Holden Brand is a Testament to the stupidity of those who made ill informed & short term decisions. " Here endeth the lesson"........ Kevin.

Hi Mal. If all else fails, then give the following a call. Nostalgic Wireless, 63 Silverdale Rd, EAGLEMONT Vic. They have rebuilt a number of car radios for me.... even converted valve to transistor, as well as including AM/FM/IPOD connectivity, [all in the original case]. I found them good to deal with. Naturally, if you are on a "DIY" journey, then this might be your "plan B". Regards Kevin.

This is how we fitted the wagon trim onto the ute. you can make out the cover piece from a sedan rear window trim. which slides on very easily to cover the gap created by the wagon rear door. Kevin.

Hi Alex. There was a Carl Mills in Lismore who did this.....must the same person! Water from the floods went over the premises he worked from. [Conroy St from memory]. Maybe he has relocated. Carl used to enter his Chev @ our annual car Show in Ballina. I think it was Carl who said he could make me a continuous moulding. Hope he is still in business. Kevin.

Hi Lazlo. I used the trim from a wagon & used the cover piece from a sedan rear window to cover the gap created by the rear door. There are people out there that do what you are looking for. One person approached me @ a show stating that he could make me a continuous moulding. I didn't follow it up, however, as I used the cover slip & told myself that this is what HOLDEN did anyway! Maybe google s/steel mouldings & go from there. Kevin.

For Sale and Wanted / Parts For Sale / FE Ute Door
|
on: June 28, 2022, 03:28:00 PM
|
\\\ Having sold my FE Ute, I now have the original ute Driver's side Door which I used as part of the Display @ Shows etc. The door is in good condition, with some minor rust bubbles on the inner bottom edge only. This could be repaired by replacing this part or with rust convertor & some filler. The script on the glass is adhesive vinyl. The glass would need to replaced in any case, when restoring the door. The new owner has made his own notice board with a detailed story of the Ute History. So, if someone wants to come & collect the door, with a $30 handshake, let me know. Kevin.
