hi all,

It has been a while, so I thought I would write an update.

Since moving to Sydney, the project has taken a lot longer than I would have liked.
Logistically it became very hard to keep momentum and then it didn't help that the guy doing my panel beating could no longer work on the car due to other commitments.
We tried another repair shop, but there was no plan and I ended up getting frustrated paying $$ with no end in sight.
So we pulled the pin and the car has been in storage for the last 6 months.

Thanks to some recommendations from members here, I have now moved the body to Brett @ Concours & Custom Restorations and looking forward to getting the body finished and seeing some paint on it.

We have progressed at little:
- we fitted the trans and engine and did a trial fit, so we could make up a cross brace to hold the rear of the trans.
- I rebuilt the steering column (EK) all new bearings, bushes etc.
- pull apart the HR Front end and got it all powder coated

I still after some panels, which I posted in PARTS WANTED.
http://forum.fefcholden.club/index.php?topic=27826.0

If anyone could help, that would be great.

Stash

*Note - This is my second attempt writing this. I just wrote an update here and wouldn't let me publish and then lost the lot!!

I am some panels in reasonable condition.

Boot rear panel for a sedan.
The one that has a hole for the petrol filler
It has a 90 bend along the edge.

L & R Boot extension panel.
As you can these are rusted out on mine. (and probably on most)

PM if you can help
thanks all in advance.

Agree. They did Grace’s EK ute spray, and George’s VL Commodore smash repair. Honest, timely and good quality work. Worth the drive out to Windsor.

Cheers,
Harv

Thanks Harv - it is a drive!
6  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Recommended Panel Beater on: November 05, 2019, 05:44:30 PM
Hi all,

Anyone recommend a good panel beater in either Sydney (preferred) or Adelaide
I need one to finish off the body work to get to paint.

I would prefer a quote or at least a loose estimate of work required.

Cheers

A good mate.

You dont want to have to sell it after all the work you put in.
Sorry to hear about your wife, hope she is on the mend.

Will try to get to a meeting one of these days ...  Cheesy Cheesy

clay.. so maybe one of these?

Assume the box section gets bolted to the chassis.
Given I am finalising all body work before painting, would it be smart to weld these directly to the body?

Following this thread and the need for an EK only one.
Seems Whiteline only have 1 model that fits all FC - EH

Will this work?

Also they dont seem to make a rear one.
Does anyone know where you can get them now? (HR/EH diff)

thanks guys and Rob - pretty much confirms what you said before.

Current breakdown:
  • Steering Arms - HR
  • Backing plates - HR
  • Hubs - HR
  • Stub Axles - Torana
  • Discs - to be confirmed
  • Callipers - HR (i think)

I will measure disc width to check.

So sounds like all i need based on your advice Rob is:
  • to get some HK-T-G hubs.
  • possibly need new discs, callipers and pads

thanks again..I wish i could remember where/who i got the front end from Huh

Not sure whether this should be a separate post or just keep it in my "under construction" page.
I decided on the latter.

Question for everyone and particlularly Rob:
Can any confirm these steering arms and stub axles?

Arms

Axles

After trial fit of engine, trans, we have welded in new engine mounts.
Spent wednesday, pulling apart the front end to get powder coated.
