Hey Openroad,
just watched your video clip, and it was fantastic. Great seeing all those FE's and FC's together. That's what it must have been like 50 years ago. Its great.

Love reading your diary.
I am in Canberra and are having seconds thoughts whether to drive the FC to Orange or not. This is the first old car I have driven and to me it feels like the old thing is going to fall apart. Not sure if thats how it is supposed to feel like. I didn't enter my car but would like to go and see everyone elses.

Looks like a gold mine.
Poor bugger must have died, has obviously been collecting for quite a few years, now they are all getting sold on him.
He must be turning in his grave.

Hi all, well Mick and I have had quite a few cars over the years. So I will start back in the early 80's when I was 15 and Mick was 17 with our first car.

Ford Falcon XC

Our next one

Black FJ

Then we swapped the FJ for this

Ford Falcon XY GT Phase 111 look alike. It had everything except the compliance plate. We stupidly sold the XY to move out of home.

After quiet a few years, a move to Canberra and a couple of kids we purchased this from Goulburn

Red FJ Special. We then again stupidly sold this one to get a racehorse. Bad mistake learnt.

After a while we decided to look for another FJ. Went to a property in Murrumbateman to look at a shell and found this next to it.

Holden FE Special Wagon. The one Zulu has now. He purchased it off me.

Then we found this one over the other side of Canberra

Holden FC Special Wagon. We started to fix this one up.

We also found this one just out of Canberra on a property going towards Sydney.

Another Holden FC Special Wagon

Well we sold all them, regretting it now.

Then Mick found this and bought it.

Holden FB Special.
The couldn't get it to go so he sold it to a friend. That friend didn't pay so we got it back. Then sold it again to a guy not too far away. Went back there about a year ago to see if he still had it and bingo, there it was. Sitting in his garage for the past 10 or so years. The guy put a reconditioned motor and gearbox in it. Mick asked him if he wanted to sell it and he said yes that he needs the money. So we got it back for nearly the same amount as it got sold for with a new motor. Yay.

This is when it came back last year.

My passion for old holdens came back and we purchased this one off Ebay from QLD.

Holden FC Special sedan. It wasn't in as good condition as we were told but we will use it as spare parts.

Then we found this one on Ebay in Canberra and bought it straight away.

Holden FC Special sedan.

Oh and this is me. I haven't got any of me with my car as yet.

Well I hope you enjoyed reading my story.

Cheers

Thanks Mike for the info. Really appreciate it.

There is one on ebay at the moment at $131 with 3 days to go. So there must be people out there who still want them.

9  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: ACT Rego for a stock FC on: September 26, 2009, 06:03:59 PM
When you buy it, just drive it until the rego is nearly run out. Then put it over for an inspection. You still have 10 months of rego left on it before you really have to do anything. Or else you can put it over sooner and use the time left on the rego to get it fixed.

I put mine over for inspection in October last year and they didn't really pick on anything. It already had electric wipers and a drivers seatbelt. But no mirrors.

See how you go.

My partner, Mick, picked up one of these swan emblems from the Queanbeyan swap meet today. He was told that some FB's came with them. Not too sure if its true. Does anyone on this forum know?

11  For Sale and Wanted / Parts For Sale / Re: Wrecking FC Standard on: September 24, 2009, 12:30:07 PM
You sell it to the wrecking yard for $280 and they will strip it down and make a sh#t load of money on it. If you have the space and time, do it yourself. You will make some money for your new project, then give whats left for scrap metal.

RET

You say there is a frosted centre set and a non-frosted centre set, is there a difference in what each set is worth? I have a frosted set on my FC. They came with the donor car we bought.

14  For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / Re: FC Sedan Price Drop $4400 on: September 15, 2009, 01:12:57 PM
We bought it in September last year. The inner sills had been fixed but the outer sills had a bit of rust, not too bad. It only needed a few minor things to pass rego. We took out the old steering column and put in another one and put an FC steering wheel back on it. As for seat belts, it passed with only one. We put the new carpet in and gave it a good polish and it looks great. A real head turner.

It was advertised on Ebay for buy-it-now for $4,300. My partner bought it straight away without seeing it in the flesh. Then we had to come up with the money. Borrowed here and there, but we did it. Have a look at some of the photos. http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php/topic,14183.0.html.

Hi RET,

What if you enter your car and pay the money and when time comes around next year, something happens to your car or yourself and you can't make it.  Do you get a refund.

Thanks
