1  General / General Board / Re: Holden head office Neon Sign .. on: June 21, 2022, 04:46:55 PM
I think that sign was from the "Holden House" dealership building on Church St Parramatta (ex-Heartland / Boyded / Fair Deal Carsales).

It was built in 1952 & was demolished last year.

Dr Terry

The building still stands 9or part of it does), I drove past it on Friday.

Bit late to reply but...  I have found these (or something similar) in VC and VE Valiants at wreckers.  Just keep your eyes open.

If you're going to fit a synchro 3 speed and keep the column sifter, I reckon you could go an Aussie 4 speed with your column shift and have a secondary gearstick on the floor for reverse. All four forward gears should work off the column. It will change the shift pattern though.

Some of us may remember the twin stick shifter that was available for Aussie 4 speeds in the early 80's, these used a separate (and smaller) stick for reverse.

5  General / General Board / Seen this morning on: April 20, 2017, 09:42:10 AM
G'day everyone,

While driving to work this morning, on the Hume Highway at Liverpool at 9:00,  and about to look at a Hyundai Velociraptor stopped at the lights (bored, nothing else to do blah blah blah) I saw a familiar headlight shape come into view.  it was an Oceanmist (or similar colour) FC Ute, Qld plates NFC-509.

It has US Racer looking wheels, maybe 7' wide and sounded like it has a grey motor.  It was heading south and looked very nice.

Wise choice.  And yep, Fiats aren't worth a brass razoo.

And here's a new one for Fast Eddie.  Might be quicker than the XC...

9  General / General Board / Re: Mechanic - Sydney on: November 27, 2015, 06:09:15 PM
Rod,

It sounds like you have some dirt in the fuel tank which could be blocking the fuel pump intake.  I had a similar problem with a Morris 1100S many years ago.

I can recommend a mechanic near where i live, in Pendle Hill, which is west of Parramatta.  Ashmore Motors.  16 Joyce Street Pendle Hill, NSW 2145.  Phone (02) 9631-3109 or (02) 9631-3388.

This place is run by two brothers, Brad and Craig.  They are car enthusiasts as well as mechanics and are able to service/repair anything (have the equipment and training) with registration, from the beginning to current models.

Fatboy,

I have a NOS one that I don't need/want anymore.  $250 and it's yours.

I've also got NOS wagon quarter panels, N/S and O/S (both sides).

Cheers
12  Galleries / Other Images / Moss Vale Street Scene late 1973 on: February 15, 2014, 02:50:48 AM
A friend of mine recently sent me this picture.  It shows him and his wife aboard a BMW in Moss Vale in November or December 1973.  The traffic etc add interest to the picture.  You can see an interesting looking FC Ute in the background.

This ute has a full set of Special stainless steel trim except for the front guard/door spear, which is a standard standard piece.  Two tone paint looks good too.

13  General / General Board / Re: A whole lot o Rosie on: August 06, 2013, 06:37:41 PM
That ute has been running around the Liverpool area over the last five or so years.  I first saw it in grey primer, then it disappeared for a few months before coming back in that yellow.  The owner used to use it for doing deliveries I think, because it had what looked like courier type loads in the back.  I haven't seen it for about two months, used to see it twice a week.

Brave with that rust in it..

That is Ted Montgomery's car.  It has a 138 Red Motor.  NSW people know the car well.

Today, I saw an FC Special Sedan.

Its numbers are:

Body  FC225-6142-s
Trim 272-633
Paint 256-2031
RPO  253-2047
Engine L140701  (might have been L149701, doubt it though because I remember two zeros in the number.)

I've put the numbers into the decoder too.
