1  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / FC Wagon Seats WANTED on: February 11, 2021, 08:07:15 PM
Ok, I'll keep this brief,

Gave my seats to an upholsterer and 4 years later I will never get them back, Drugs happened, seats are considered gone Sad been trying to get them back for 3.5 years....I have finally given up, apparently they still exist and he still knows where they are, I will just never know

I need some seats for my wagon, I plan to get them redone to a more comfortable arrangement for my bony ass to sit on so condition is not super important.

I live on the gold coast, happy to drive a distance.

PM me if you have a lead or can help.

Cheers
Jemahl

edit: wagon is a standard if that makes a difference

3  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: 1/4 VENT RIVET on: February 07, 2021, 05:48:23 PM
Thanks Nick, having the same issue with my rear spares kit, good friend of mine works for Betta Rubber and says there are two size's, slightly bigger one is supposed to fit the FJ 1/4, the rivets I have in the rear spares kit are .25" at the middle diameter, the rivet taken out is .225... only .025 but its enough.

We are going to compare my old kit(maybe 3-4yrs) to what they have at Betta

Cheers

That looks like a good project! interior looked in good nick, that steering wheel was mint!

Lets hope all the dust protected it and is not hiding to many surprises!

Good luck mate!

That was the point  Grin
6  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Glass Weather Strips on: March 04, 2017, 12:01:18 PM
I am really struggling with this. doesn't matter what i use as a lever, the metal that the holes are in just bends.... I have managed to only get 1 clip to actually "pop" in, and then it fell out. I think it may actually be the clips? but I cant tell.

And well, this is the final result, too much fiddling with the damn strip and its warped and bent and clips are loose.

So, if there is anyone willing to come and give me a hand with tools or expertise, I live on the gold coast.

For anyone who would like to help, I can offer beer and BBQ as a reward Smiley

what kind of grease do you recommend? lithium? axle? silicone?

wooden wedge? put both strips in place then force a wedge down in?

yeah clips seem high, but if they where any lower there wouldn't be a lot for them to grip on.

9  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Glass Weather Strips on: February 26, 2017, 03:44:51 PM
Hi all,

Any tricks to getting the new ones back in place? I can see there is a point where the new clip will snap in, but I am having trouble even getting one to seat in properly.

to scared to use something like a screw driver because likely damage of door or weather strip.

I have new repros from Betta Rubber, the clips line up ok, had to trim about 1.5mm from an end to get to fit inside the new bailey channel.

kinda lost here at the moment, everything else on the door has gone reasonably well, even getting the window back in, this has brought me to a stand still

Already have the regulator out, window only slides down so far before it hits a bracket, think I am gonna have to take that out. working on the rear passenger first.

I hope the fronts are a bit easier than this one

12  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Bailey Channel/Door Glass Removal on: February 18, 2017, 05:05:00 PM
Hey all, have done a bit of searching but can seem to find what I am looking for.

I am at the stage of replacing all the window channeling for the doors, the old stuff in place in pretty damn old, wouldn't surprise me if was original.

How the frig do you get the old channels out without removing the window and how the frig do you remove the window without removing the old channel?

Cheers

13  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Accelerator set up for twin SU's on Thomas Manifold on: September 13, 2016, 08:17:51 PM
sorry mate, what is it you want a pic of? the carbie setup? Rare spares pedal kit is a bust, apparently the part was made by Hot Bits, he went bust, so no more kits from them
14  Technical Board / Modification Help / Accelerator set up for twin SU's on Thomas Manifold on: September 11, 2016, 07:37:47 PM
Hi guys, test fitted the carbies today, Fresh rebuilt 1 1/4's from a MG midget, so a left and right. Wont work with the stock accelerator linkage.

Does anyone have a setup that will work? I see Rare Spares does a cable kit, I am guessing is a generic conversion, is it any good? Must admit I dont really have the time to f**k about trying to jurry rig parts from 6 different cars, so a simple solution would be best even if it means more $$

Any advice here would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Well, naff all progress lately, new floor in the house is priority... Undecided anyway, got a couple of hours this afternoon, test fitted new carb set up, stock accelerator linkage is in the way...Pulled the clutch master that dumped its load all over the floor pan, pitted to hell the whole way down, to re-sleeve or not to re-sleeve and buy a fresh unit... finally pulled the stock fuel pump... the red motor pump I have been saving for years, finally gone missing... passenger side doors off too, I can now dig out those old crappy seals.

Trimmer bro picked up the seats, at least MY arse will be comfortable when I get to drive Smiley

So in the end, some progress

17  Technical Board / Modification Help / Pertronix 1864A on: August 15, 2016, 07:59:30 PM
So, I put one of these in a sedan i has a while back, was the ducks nuts then and made starting the old grey a lot easier, I reckon it ran a lot better too.

Are these kits still popular? or is there another way to do it these days?

Starting to look at parts for the wagon and one of these has been on my list for a while. Did a search, but didnt find anything current about them.

Cheers

Small progress report, saw Patch up on a hoist today with bits cut out for repairs to be done. I had the astonished comment from the man doing the repairs that he hadn't seen one with so much original paneling in a very long time, lots of surface rust which needs to be dealt with, but he was pretty surprised at how good she looked from below...  Wink

My first time seeing her up so high as well, showed me just how much more work is to be done, so much surface to be cleaned down and sealed. Rear gearbox and selector seals need to be replaced, diff gasket leaking, all brake cylinders need to be re done, again. seal over the clutch slave cylinder looked cracked, engine mounts and front rigger rubbers look original, need replacing.

Shes taken a good ole knock in the front right corner at some stage, but looks like someone with decent hammer skills has put her right again, means those panels line up a little less then even crappy factory fit. But I can live with that, gives character.

Should have her home again in a couple of weeks, the goal of driving her over xmass hols might actually be attainable.

Cheers
Oggz
