Hi guys,
Thanks for the message Stewy!
I made a one off set for beehive to duct adaptors from fibreglass. You just mould the body and vent tubes. Quite a simple job. I can probably post a tutorial on here.

Havent made any vents for some time but will check my molds and supplies... been a bit busy on other projects.

Pete,

Impressive work..

Just wondering how the coils are fired.. obviously the crank trigger provides the signal but do you need to run some sort of ECU?

Am thinking of doing this down the track to the 1UZFE with an after market ECU.

Cheers

I thought we had already talked about the poly resin impreganted cloth JB?.. it's certainly the best way to make complex shapes.. typically for speaker build outs and consoles etc, however your frame is well built and would be easy to sheet up to the frame.

If you do go with poly, just stretch the material over your frame and stick it down to the steel frame or wrap it around and cable tie it.  Paint on the resin and I normally allow it to set at this point to make a shell.

Lay up some light weight mat over the top, you only need 2 or 3 layers..then smooth up with body filler…

it can end up quite heavy so avoid trying to apply the cloth and matting in one go as it will sag , making your filler job bigger, and the end product even heavier.

Cheers

PS.. looks great!

I'm curious as to what the benefits of rebodying an FE or FC over an existing chassis are?

If you are looking for rigidity, then a 3/4 chassis is very effective.

If you are trying to incorporate new suspension, then I think it would be "easier".. (sorry the same amount of work) and more elegant to fabricate new rails and floor to suit your suspension and drive line.

Perhaps a rack with a different input angle could be the go in future. Or some of these newer flexible couplings might get cheaper. The smidt type is interesting but I prefer the flexible slinky coupling. All very interesting. I like the budget beam. http://www.abssac.co.uk/c/Shaft+Couplings/6/

Maybe even a cool planetary gear system at right angles lol. I've been looking at racks and the Mazda miata, early Subaru and anything with a 1uz conversion have racks that are electric or ones that have input shaft right over or angled. The chev engine isn't as hard in this regard.

as you mentioned 1uz conversion…
I might need to consider one of these as last resort in my project.

I think you can get them here from Lonestar in NSW.

Nice work as usual Pete.

I like how you have the tabs that slot together to help retain the shape as you weld.

what length arm and pedal ratio did you end up with?

19  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Demister Vents Again! on: June 23, 2014, 03:47:48 PM
they look to be FB/EK or something else.

the FE FC vents look like this… metal are original.

fibreglass are reproduction.

Thanks for the link Pete  Smiley

GUys, I haven't made up a batch this year, normally I do for the winter months as people start thinking about demisters.

Let me check my stocks and moulds etc and see if I can get a small production run up and going.  I've been a bit busy working on projects and other things but will see if I can get it happening once again.

thanks for the continued interest too!

Cheers
