My question would be,what was their purpose in the first place? Why weren't the mounts 1/2" taller? Was it some form of wear strip or vibration medium?Anyway, the nylon cutting board is actually a brilliant idea as this type of nylon is generally not brittle as such.Jamie.
I thought that they were optional and a method of raising the bench for height-challenged folk such as myself. This (plus breakage) is why they are not always present?

Hi, Could someone with an HR parts catalog tell me whether 7423770 is an HR pitman arm? If not can this be used instead for an HR front end conversion into FEFC? I have all the HR steering linkages just need to sort out this last bit. thanks, Jonno

OK...I'll ask the stupid question. Why were these things always made in resin/plastic that was not very load bearing and eventually cracked. Why were they not made from some form of metal from the outset? There must be some reason otherwise I would have thought the repros should have been metal too..they seem to be perspex which I would have though would have similarly (bad) qualities..

my FE ute has full floor..probably a '58. It's looking like that 'short floor kit' is pretty rare!

pretty sure it is H-pattern but I have never seen a straight-line so can't be sure. I assume the straight-line shifters just move up and down, not side to side?

For info, here is one of these items I purchased from the Ballarat swap a couple of years ago, assuming at the time (correctly as it turned out) that I was unlikely ever to come across an original one. It seems to fit quite well and, as Ken says, uses a rear quarter badge, covered in resin, to make the centre. I think they look pretty good? Jonno
