Hi Glenn,

The patterns of swirls looks extremely close to the sample you sprayed black in your original post (http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php/topic,15438.0.html), the top sample in this side-by-side.

The main limitation in making the comparison is the quality of their scan. I reckon that it will be great...sign me up.

I have an e-mail address for Martin but it dates from 2005. Can PM if you want to try it.

although I am not sure what their definition of 'low cost' is?

vans and wagons also have a raised profile for the rear badge whereas utes do not appear to. See discussion here (especially down the bottom of the page):

I would guess that new skins also do not have this raised profile so you may need to weld one in from a wagon.

P.S. it is best to take an example along.... their filing system is not existent...it's just a huge warehouse crammed with a chaotic mix of old stock.

27  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: FC front bench seat spacers on: June 21, 2010, 07:33:59 AM
My question would be,what was their purpose in the first place? Why weren't the mounts 1/2" taller? Was it some form of wear strip or vibration medium?Anyway, the nylon cutting board is actually a brilliant idea as this type of nylon is generally not brittle as such.Jamie.
I thought that they were optional and a method of raising the bench for height-challenged folk such as myself. This (plus breakage) is why they are not always present?

Hi,
Could someone with an HR parts catalog tell me whether 7423770 is an HR pitman arm? If not can this be used instead for an HR front end conversion into FEFC? I have all the HR steering linkages just need to sort out this last bit.
thanks, Jonno

OK...I'll ask the stupid question.  Why were these things always made in resin/plastic that was not very load bearing and eventually cracked. Why were they not made from some form of metal from the outset? There must be some reason otherwise I would have thought the repros should have been metal too..they seem to be perspex which I would have though would have similarly (bad) qualities..
31  General / General Board / Re: Utes on: June 17, 2010, 09:07:07 PM
my FE ute has full floor..probably a '58. It's looking like that 'short floor kit' is pretty rare!

yep...~$250 with 9 days still to run. Madness!
33  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: impala shifter on: June 06, 2010, 01:08:32 PM
pretty sure it is H-pattern but I have never seen a straight-line so can't be sure. I assume the straight-line shifters just move up and down, not side to side?

here you go..although probably will not stay at this price for long:

Hi Folks,
does anyone have a copy of fitting instructions for the Impala floor shift conversion for grey motor, including the all-important 'where to cut the hole in the floor' bit? Any help much appreciated.
thanks, Jonno

sounds good but probably best if someone can generate a file from an original rather one of these Franken-badges..
38  For Sale and Wanted / Reproduction Parts / Re: Fc Grille badge insert on: May 31, 2010, 04:15:44 PM
the rear is obscured by quite a bit of silicone but if you peer into the gap at the front (may not be visible in this shot) you can still see the HOLDEN letters

39  For Sale and Wanted / Reproduction Parts / Re: Fc Grille badge insert on: May 31, 2010, 01:51:24 PM
For info, here is one of these items I purchased from the Ballarat swap a couple of years ago, assuming at the time (correctly as it turned out) that I was unlikely ever to come across an original one. It seems to fit quite well and, as Ken says, uses a rear quarter badge, covered in resin, to make the centre. I think they look pretty good?
