21  For Sale and Wanted / Parts For Sale / Original GMH top radiator hose on: August 21, 2002, 02:01:23 AM
Had one of those interesting finds in the shed over the weekend, an original top radiator hose complete with the GMH sticker stating that it suits 48-215 through to EK.  The hose has been used (has minor clamp depression marks), however I suspect it wasn't on the car long as it appears very good (not swelled) and the sticker is very intact and easily readable.  Would this be of interest to anyone?  I'd imagine there wouldn't be too many in this condition around??  I'm looking for offers and will be happy to post it anywhere.  Please email phuhta@dlwc.nsw.gov.au to enquire.

22  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: wanted  pair of taillight chrome on: August 20, 2002, 01:43:01 AM
Parkey Parts in Wodonga VIC have a couple of FCs, maybe they'd have good chrome surrounds??  There phone is 02 6024 7384.  Last time I was there they had a wagon that was 75% complete.

23  For Sale and Wanted / Parts For Sale / NASCO 'red tip' aerial on: August 05, 2002, 09:42:43 PM
I have a NASCO red tip aerial for sale.  The aerial itself is in excellent condition (ie not corroded or bent), however it is missing the plug to fit it to the radio.  Open to reasonable offers on this rare item.  Please email phuhta@dlwc.nsw.gov.au or leave replies here.

A-C,

I'm pretty sure ' FE219' is the code for FE standard wagon, pretty rare items from what I've been told.  Just to think 14 years ago I could have bought one for $1500 with 18000 genuine miles on the clock (and it was immaculate) at a deceased estate sale!  I guess we all have a story like that, but at the time $$ were very scarce, however if I knew then what I know now I would have scraped it up somehow!!  Oh well....

Are these latches the same as those on EKs?  If so I have one I could sell you.

26  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: FE Bonnet and Boot badges, Shop Manual and Lig on: July 05, 2002, 03:06:54 AM
If you're still chasing one, I have a boot badge chrome centre in good nick.  The plastic lion insert is uncracked, however has faded so would require repainting. $20 + postage.  Please email peteramanda@iprimus.com.au to discuss.

27  For Sale and Wanted / Parts For Sale / Re: for sale holden 253 and auto gearbox on: June 21, 2002, 12:08:52 AM
Does the 253 have a quadrajet or the standard 2 barrel stromberg carby?  If it's the quadrajet I'd be interested in that (if your willing to separate)

I have a 'red tip' aerial from that era that I'd be happy to sell.  Haven't seen it for a while (if you see my shed you'll know why, I really must organise things in there!!), anyway I'm pretty sure it's in good nick for it's age.  Open to reasonable offers, located in Wodonga, but happy to send anywhere through the post.  Please email peteramanda@iprimus.com.au to discuss.

Dave,

The first Holden was actually badged GMH, the reason being that they hadn't decided what to call the car yet.  GMH the company had been around since 1931 (I think?) under that name, so they just stuck that on the prototype.  Then someone came up with Holden after Alexander James Holden who started the company as a carriage builder back at the turn of the century, and the rest they say is history!!  Cool

I have an indicator switch assembly complete, including the horn contact assembly all in good nick.  Thought it may be the same as FC ones.  If so I'm open to offers, please email peteramanda@iprimus.com.au to discuss.

Located in Wodonga VIC, but can be mailed anywhere.

Cheers

31  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Grey Motor Engine Numbers on: May 14, 2002, 11:52:08 PM
The only prob with that code is that the suggestion that the year code are the two digits after the state police letter code would mean that block was stamped in 1916!!   Huh
32  General / General Board / AWA Radio on: May 10, 2002, 09:42:52 PM
G'day again,

I've come across an old AWA radio in a box of parts that is different to the ones in the photos in that previous topic on radios.  It has a chromed facia with the AWA emblem in the left corner and has a clear plastic face (with no station lettering).  Across the plastic face is HOLDEN in brown letters.  Any ideas what this may be out of??  What would something like that be worth as it's complete apart from the right knob (however I think I have an identical knob from a Valiant radio in the shed somewhere!!).  Also I'm not sure if it works though.  Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks

34  General / General Board / FC grill, whats it worth??? on: May 09, 2002, 09:32:30 PM
I know someone with a grill they'd like to sell.  It's in good nick.  I know it's always a difficult question, especially if you haven't seen it, however what would it be worth??  If anyone is interested, leave a reply here or respond to my email address and I'll pass the info on as he doesn't have email.

Cheers

35  General / General Board / Re: 132 grey motor oil on: April 10, 2002, 01:33:51 AM
Bryan,

Oils are one of those 'horses for courses' things.  However with the older motors, ie red and grey motors, the best oils seem to be the 20W-50 varieties, not the Kmart reconstituted stuff, but from known companies, eg Castrol, Mobil, Shell etc.  Really you can't go wrong, especially if you change at the recommended intervals, 6000 miles if I remember rightly!!

Thanks Ken, not sure what they wanted for them, anyway they don't appear to be 'hard to get' from what you say, so no probs!!  Grin

39  General / General Board / FC headlight surrounds on: March 01, 2002, 10:54:29 PM
I found in an antique shop in Young NSW, 3 x headlight surrounds.  Are these considered hard to get?  They were quite good with just a little bit of chrome tarnishing under the top inner part of the surround.  I was just passing through, however I may be able to locate a phone number if anyone is interested.
