Make sure all of your vaccum lines are tight, as if you have a vaccum leak this will effect the vaccum advance,  if all checks out ok there check your float level and that everything on the carb is tight as this will be effecting your fuel mixture and supply

You need to use a putty based non-hardening sealant of good quality such as bostik

I have a set of the rare spares ones, they are thinner than original though being more flexible I found this to be an advantage as they are less prone to breaking if someone sits on the edge of the seat which is what destroyed what was left of my originals in the first place.  I painted mine in acrylic to the same colour as the originals and put the stainless strips on and they look great.  If you are unhappy with the quality of the ones you received you should return or exchange for better ones

G'day Paul, Vintage wiring harnesses in VIC make these up as per original if you are after originality. Their website vinwire.com.au they may be able to help

Hello,
I would be interested in the blue that is the background of your shot, I have the green in my FE however I do not have any samples of the material as what is in the vehicle is all I have.  I could send you a pic to give an idea of the colour if this would help.

I appreciate your efforts and hope others will also
                                                             Cheers

35  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: under bonnet electrical terminal blocks on: August 22, 2009, 11:07:19 AM
Vintage wiring harnesses have these http://www.vinwire.com.au, they don't list everything in their catalogue so its best to give them a ring
                              Cheers

36  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: gearbox oil on: July 14, 2009, 05:25:52 PM
Caltex recommend torque fluid 454,  you need to use the correct oil as some gearoils have additives that will attack bushes in early gearboxes

                                    hope this helps

37  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: PARTS WASHER FLUID on: July 02, 2009, 12:58:45 PM
You need to find a servo with a kero bowser.  Caltex at corner of coreen ave at penrith has it if you are in the area about a 1.60 a litre.  about 18 months ago

As much as somethings seem a bit much at times, the regs keep all of us safe from those who want to take shortcuts and you will be happier with a vehicle that handles, steers, brakes and rides how it should.  Keep the pics coming I look forward to watching your biuld progress

                                                  Cheers

Looks like a straight clean car you have to start with, all the best with your biuld, your best bet before you get too far would be to speak to an engineer in your state as you are more than doubling the cubic capacity of the original motor there may be more mods required than just a chassis strengthening kit. Maybe even full chassis.

                                                                Cheers and happy biulding

40  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: 1/4 VENT RIVET on: June 12, 2009, 10:07:54 AM
You may need to open up the holes a little especially after rechroming though becareful using a power drill as if it jams it could destroy the brackets.  A little file may be a better option if your not too confident with a drill.  Once all is in place you need to sit the head of the rivet down on something solid and open the other side up.  I rounded off a centre punch you dont need to hit it very hard. you can always give it another tap if you want to open it up a little more.  Having another set of hands makes life alot easier for this part of the job

                                                      Hope this helps
