1  Galleries / Project Cars - FEs and FCs Under Construction / Re: FC Ute on: July 25, 2016, 04:04:01 PM
Had the same problem with the AVO shocks, kept chewing up bushes. I also changed to QA1 shocks and springs and haven't had a problem since. No wonder no-one wants to stock AVO's in Australia!

2  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: Towbar FE - FC sedan on: February 03, 2016, 02:01:43 PM
Thanks to all that replied to my request. I have found a tow bar just 5 mins down the road of all places. Now to remove 60yrs of surface rust , weld a couple of brackets on , paint and fit to the car. Will be able to tow the caravan to Toowoomba after all! Cheers, Jack

Not sure if they are the same, if it bolts on to the chassis rails then it would most likely fit as the chassis is the same width.

5  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: thermo fan size on: October 09, 2015, 07:41:27 PM
Hi Fred,
I am running an ecotec V6 in my FC and I fitted a HQ V8 triple cored radiator with a Ford Mondeo shrouded twin thermo fan setup. I have had no trouble with overheating but remember the V6 thermostat doesn't open until the motor reaches 92 degC and under normal running conditions will sit on about 98 degC which is considerably hotter than the old Holden 6. Hope this helps, Jack

Hi JB, glad to see you're making some progress. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the turning circle, I know I was! Mine turned out better than an early commodore. Keep the good work up, Cheers, Jack.

My mistake JB, yes it was shocks you got off me not springs. I am running 500lb springs on mine so I reckon you might need about 550lb springs. It is a bit of trial and error to get the right height. Best of luck, Jack.

Starting to come together JB, how did you go with the front end?, were the springs you got off me any good? Keep the updates coming , love em!. Cheers, Jack

Looking great JB, nice colour, reminds me of the old Dominator metal flake paint from the late 70's. Hope you make it to Tassie, Cheers, Jack

19  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Tires and mags on: July 30, 2013, 07:37:02 PM
hello Dean, welcome to the forum. 7 x 13 Dragways will fit depending on the offset of the rims. I had these rims with 205 tyres on my stockie but used to rub on the back guards with a couple of people in the back. It would be best to put the rims on the car before you get tyres and check clearances on full lock both ways and line up outer edge of rim with the lip on the rear guards to determine if the tyres would rub. Hope this helps, Cheers, Jack

Looks great Pedro, won't be long now. Your putting paint on while I'm taking paint off. I know which I'd rather be doing!. Keep the pcs coming, Jack
