i sprayed wd 40 down the spark plug holes wound her over by hand did all the stuff i was told.my dad said he had a mate same prob drove it round for a couple days then was fine .might just rip the head off and have a look.dad said the same about rings could they break easily after sitting for so long.remember now while turning by hand it stopped at one point thinking it was ceased.maybe just worrying too much heard heaps of stories of motors sitting for much longer and running fine

hey my 186 finally got running properly but is constantly blowing smoke.kept thinking it was running too rich but is not black smoke.the unfinshed project i bought was sitting in a carport for ten years.my hope is that valve stem oil seals have perished due to lack of oil to top end.hoping i haven't scored the bore on start up still has heaps of compression though.tried wynns stop smoke for half an hour got slightly better.would appreciate any knowledge as i always expect the worst.
thanks heaps

fibre max is a stringy fibreglass bog which is great cause it doesn't let any moisture back in to get to the rust like normal body filler does.nu steel is much the same but i think it's stainless metal strands (could be very wrong)but it is a real bitch to grind.obviously the fibreemax is a bitch too with the dust (get a good mask )but is much easier.i like to weld wherever possible but sometimes this is a better option.at the moment got rust in sill right near sub-frame.using these products.not happy about it but don;t wanna rip the front off for the moment.will fix properly when the real motor goes in.

his name is josh  and he works at route 66 hence the car being in the city all the time.i was laughing my ass off at the last nostalgias when it did 19 or 20 secs but you gotta love a daily driver out there having a go.inspired me big time.low budget drag cars are where its at.that's where i;m headed and everyone's laughing at me.stuff em all,you gotta be into something right. my mate knows him well and has been telling me his new beast is a big block chevy nova.hang shit on him whatever but he's having fun hey

fibre max and nu steel can do wonders. floor looks pretty good .50 year old cars are always rusty.don't be disappointed it must be expected.hopefully you can weld.if not it could become expensive.

thanks heaps fc427 this has been doing my head in.been wanting to ask you about the spacers but haven't had time.just wondering how much they are? maybe i should just get those wishbones off ken.painting my baby at the moment but need to fix the prob asap.i'm bloody itching to get it registered.was thinking about making my own but figured the engineer in st georges basin (nowra)might knock it back.has anyone dealt with him.spoke to him a while back and he seemed pretty cool.ken you legend $50 sounds too cheap.never going to a wrecker ever again
751  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Engineering Signitories on: October 26, 2007, 08:37:58 PM
building a ute myself.been speaking to engineer in nowra(st georges basin) up the road from my parents seems pretty cool but i'm about to take it to him in next couple weeks bit far away for you but i;'ll get back to ya .from what i've heared it's all about the loopholes and whether he's down or not.good luck
752  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: hr wishbones on: October 26, 2007, 08:27:22 PM
thanks ace but I'm metal fabricator and messing with cast steel changes the grain structure.to me stuffing with a front end is ludicrous.wanna do this properly.everyone  i speak to tells me something different and now i'm lost .someone reckons i need hr stubs trying to sell em for $195 is this feasible.igot hk,t,or g discs maybe Qy or later calipers.shimmed as far as possible 3 mills from hitting the shock mount and still 5 mills out of level so neg camber is not possible.stub axles seems very much the prob to me.could get longer bolts grind back shock mount but surely someones had to overcome this prob in the past.dont think engineer would like it too much grinding back front ends or bending stubs  hey
753  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: hr wishbones on: October 26, 2007, 07:36:50 PM
i've been speaking to some old holden wreckers and they tell me they're the same length and it's my stub axle thats wrong not sure what i've got as i bought an unfinished project.donT wanna waste my money on stuff i dont need.hopefully as we wanna put this to bed someone can rest this in peace.most of it looks like hQ calipers etc.thanks for the input guys
