Grey and light green, you can thank Ken for its success. Regards John
Thanks John (and Ken!). You have made our day, our FE van was originally 'Oceanmist Green' and this model will give us a, surprisingly accurate, glimpse into the future. [Our car remains for now though, a rather uninspiring blend of 'Burgundy' and (sub-floor) rust.] Cheers, Chris & Yvona

Hmmm, thats an interesting wagon, at first I thought it was a FC special wagon with a stripe kit, but its not. Then I thought its a standard wagon with a stripe kit, but its not. Its an FE special wagon with what maybe a "Dart Look" flash kit the same as Chris Boudlev's car. It appears to be grey and white with a maroon flash. Would have been a pretty car in its day.
Ken
I think you are spot on (as usual) Ken. Here's mine showing the ' full Dart' Chris

Hi Tony, The Business model (217) was specced for 'heavy duty'. For example, they had a better electrical system (higher rated Battery) and an extra leaf in the rear leaf springs (5 as opposed to 4). The rocker switch on the B-pillar was on all 217's (not specific to Taxis) and was to turn the interior dome light on, without opening the front doors.

Hey Pete, Don't feel too bad. I once (1995) sold a (GMH verified genuine) "Zodiac Blue" LJ GTR XU1 for $7,000 (trade in value on a new BMW). Only thing was my car had the 202 triple carb motor replaced with a 308 (a previous owner was an airforce dude who liked serious speed). Personally, I (with hindsight) would have left her stock as a rock and ......Dohh! kept her!! Chris ps. at least I still have the BM, which has been a gem

Hi R,
Where did you purchase the kit from?
From my experience any issues at all with magnet it will cause problems.
Cheers John
John, I bought the kit through the Vic. Club. I was instructed by a Pertronix tech guru that the crack is of no consequence whatsoever. The problem was I had the ignition timing out by a fair wack . Spun the dizzy a few degrees and voila -she lives! All is good now and car runs sweeter than ever. The guy said I can fit one of their high volt coils and this would allow me to open up the plug gaps and release some more neddies from my stock as a rock Grey. Anyone done this?

Dumb question time: As we get near winter (a.k.a. FE hibernation time) does a car battery stay charged longer if the earth cable is disconnected?

Just fitted one of these (Petronix Ignitor 1864A) to my stock FE Grey. Car will just start, but will not run. Only drama with the installation was the magnet sleeve top face partially cracked off as I pushed it down, so I glued it back together and re-fitted it. There was a white stuck-on label on the inside face of the Ignitor module (which faces the magnet sleeve) with a serial number printed on it, which I removed prior to fitting. My questions are: Would the glued top on the magnet sleeve cause problems? How should the dizzy be installed initially, advanced, retarded, zeroed? Should the label (I removed) be left on? Would the stock Ignition coil satisfy the minimum 1.5 ohms resistance requirement of this unit? Any thoughts appreciated, R.

Amen to that RET. Although I'd prefer to think that the wagon pictured, might be an FE, rather than the common or garden variety FC.

Yeah the missus and I share ownership of an unmolested*windowless 1957 FE van. Should be back on the road quite soon*. *unmolested = apart from lots of rust in sills, front subframe/floorpans * quite soon = 2-3 years Slowly, slowly the bird builds its nest R.
