3  For Sale and Wanted / Parts For Sale / 202 red race head for sale on: February 21, 2006, 07:30:00 AM
ex HQ racing. oversize valves, high CR head with what look like 308 valve springs - takes my WHOLE body weight (85kg) to compress one of them. valves are lightweight apparently - unsure because i inherited the head - and they certainly don't look standard but i'm assured they're lightweight. head is ready to bolt into any existing 9port red configuration.

offers?

email aaron.sice (at) jaxon.net.au for pics or post your email up and i will send.

cheers.

5  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: help on: December 17, 2005, 07:38:36 AM
i wouldn't run ANY rubber between the block and spring/axle tube.

when it wears, you could have a VERY dangerous situation on your hands.

solid mount the blocks and let your leaf springs do the work they were designed to do.

i'm not big on it personally - but i gotta say - it's a damn sight cooler than driving a $50k piece of GM plastic.

atm i have large valves in a 192 9 port head
heavy duty springs.
eBay 1.5:1 yella terra roller rockers ($300 for the set!)
a pair of subaru forester turbos (one for 123 and 456) on a custom steampipe manifold
custom plenum

still to decide on a bottom end.

i have a 186 that i'm toying fitting a blue crank into with starfire rods (all linished, nitrided and polished) and using a grumpy 32/72 cam in but i dunno if the blue crank will fit. you said you're using a black crank? was it an easy fit? did you have to clearance the counterweights or anything?

studs are mandatory for  mains caps and head clamping.

going for max CR (like 9.0:1+) and about 10psi of boost.

will be using ACL bearings and ACL HE pistons - no forgies here.

also using a BFO W2A intercooler and water/meth injection.
8  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Cam for norman suprcharger on: December 10, 2005, 12:46:52 AM
it al depends on how big your charger is.

that norman looks like a fairly decent size for a red, so i would say you could run up to something like a 72/74 degree cam (288/296 duration) and have a lumpy idle with all the grunt coming in the lower midrange to redline. and what grunt it will be!!!!  Grin

for example an XU1 grind would be a very mild cam on a blown 202.

kinda defeats the purpose of a supercharger (the whole "boost from idle" thing) but if you're chasing max power rather than good overall average power then it's all very possible.

and wasting pressure is just wasting pressure - it's not detrimental to a blower like it is to a turbo which overspeeds and overboosts.

i'm in the middle of a twin turbo 186 build and putting a T70 on a lexus V8.

will prob run aftermarket management on the 1UZFE, but i'm thinking about using 1000XX honda blackbird coils on the 186 and trying to get a delco to fire the lot.

i know you can get gas carbies that bolt in place.

you may only have to make a thin adaptor plate and use countersunk hex bolts to make it all come together.

if you head down to the jap importers you'll have a ton to choose from from around the 30mmŲ up to 70mmŲ.

hi newby here.

in my experience with superchargers - you run as wild as you want. overlap isnt an issue.

if you can run it on an NA engine, you can run it on a supercharged engine.
