This is the draw string bag that the original tools were in, it is very grubby as i have not cleaned it yet, the floral type pattern is inbedded in the material and probably not able to be seen in the picture, the trim on the outside looks like it is a light cream,

Hi i got a tool kit with my FC and it appears to be the original one, my question is did the yellow/tan drawstring bag have a strange type of flower pattern on it as mine has and how many tools should be in it, i have the orange handled screwdriver, hubcap remover tool, sparkplug socket and multigrip type pliers,

Rang up quite a few platers today (in SA) to get my number plate surrounds re anodised but no luck, all the ones i spoke to said that they use a different process nowdays and they will not come up as shiny. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you get around it, i thought about getting them chromed but not sure how they would turn out.

Torana parts are really the flavour of the month at the moment, the locking fuel caps are a pretty rare beast, an original sticker, not repo (poor copy) went for $150 recently and NOS wheel trims sold for over $1000!! I have just sold off a few parts for xu1's that i had collected when i had mine and i made $1500 couldnt believe it but it gives me more to put into my FE and FC's.

Hi according to the build records there were only 163 cars built from launch date till xmas 1948, so the one in sydney would have to have a very low build number and with so few built in 1948 this explains the rareity of the car especially considering the intervening years.

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: nasco gear lever lock
|
on: February 26, 2003, 07:03:34 AM

Hi Gree & Ret yes it is the gear lever lock type not the tube and padlock type, Gree to get it off all you do is drill into the shear off bolts carefully i used a 4.7mm drillbit and then knocked into the hole a 6 sided attachment (you know the ones you always get when you buy attachments for your cordless drill) and fit a socket onto this and undo, mine undid quite easy, then its just a matter of getting it re-keyed and either buying or making shear off bolts and refit.

Hi I just got hold of a FE/FC nasco gear lever lock and was wondering if they were painted or left the aluminium finish originally, as mine now is just the alloy finish.

I remember Alan Hales black FC from my first South Australian street machine show which was i think was in 1977 and loved the car so much i bought one for my first car a few years later and have been into them ever since, that car was just so far ahead of the rest at the time it used to win everything. Its good to see it is still around.

Yes the handle is bigger on one side and it does have printing stamped on it, I think it must be the tap manufacturer, I pulled it out of a wrecked FE but wasnt sure if it was the one, am now thanks Ken.
