For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: Front Spear clips

You can get these from Rare Spares in small packs of about 6? They will do the spears. They are plated but do rust too soon, but a quick spray of gal paint will make them last a lot longer.

Just yesterday I also spent about two hours getting nowhere fast. Took a break and over a cup of tea came up with a similar idea, just used the flat stick and masking tape to attach the clip. Great minds think alike Also had the wife assisting which never goes well!

Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: V6 conversion opinions
|
on: May 10, 2015, 10:01:25 AM

I've gone down the v6 route for an everyday driver. Sure it's the same amount of work and engineering requirements as for an 8, so just decide which you want. Might be less firewall mods with the 6 ?? As an everyday car the best improvement is going to fuel injection, instant starts and idle. Also for an everyday car the most important part of the conversion to get right is steering. You want the turning circle, feel, ride etc to be very good. The front end packages available now may solve that for you? You'll also appreciate the better brakes compared to stock. Cheers.

pic as requested: Funny you describe the compressor as an "alternator type", as that is pretty much how it is mounted. Bottom mounts are part of engine mount bracket. Top mount is as shown in previous pic. The belt used is standard A/C commodore belt. Just make sure the pulley on the compressor matches the commodore belt in width etc. Haven't much info on the compressor as it was bought new and for the smallest size I could get! Hose connections had to be right-angle mount and modified to clear subframe etc. You can see this in previous pic.
