It’s very hard to see in your photo, the top trim should line up nicely with the side trims. There is a little bit of a gap at the top. If it is not seated properly you will have to take it out and start again unfortunately.

However, :-( the top strip does not fit flush with the car - hubby was hoping we might be able to push it in further - two questions * is the top trim supposed to sit flush with the body * can the trim be pushed in further while still fitted or will we need to take it out and start again
The holes for the uprights are nowhere near right, have tried fitting one by slitting the rubber but looks like may need to take out and drill the holes to clear the rubber from where the pins need to go.
I have a Smiths round heater like in the pic came with my Ute, I can see where the hoses used to go through the fire wall but not where/how it mounted under the dash. Any clues.
hey Helen ..wondering how you are and how the ute is ,now we know ,coming along nicely , I had to replace the gearshift tube in the steering column ,thats done ,just some final adjustments as its not selecting 2nd and 3rd gears..Vern
Hi Vern, sorry missed your post - still going slowly slowly - just cant manage to spend as much time on the car as I would like to. Did a bit here and there today - including a trial fit of a seat we purchased off another FC ute enthusiast - price compared to getting one reupholstered as original compared to this one was just too good to turn down.
I'm not that big - and I have to have the seat all the way back to not be touching the steering wheel - not sure how a well built fella is going to get in there - LOL
Can't find any other models that have the same style so far - I'm going with it has been bent and a little twisted, there is a crack in the bottom edge of it, Cheers
Hi all Another query while I'm sorting out putting on the bumperettes - I have two passenger side ones (haven't checked the driver side ones yet) and they are different sizes and have a slightly different angle. Any thoughts as I also thought the FE-EK bumperettes were the same
Guys, thank you for your comments however we are not talking about standard bumper bar bolts.
The bumperettes fitted to utes and panelvans have a very distinctive bolt that locks into a hole in the bumperette (similar to a standard bumper bar bolt) but has a flat head almost like a thick washer that fits into the rubber buffer that is on the outside of the bar that would prevent the tailgate hitting the spare wheel door.
In the photo below, the rubber buffer I'm talking of is diagonally below the tailgate hinge. The standard bolt (which is not required) is on the side.
Hi all, I've found the description for the bumperette rubbers a bit confusing when trying to purchase.
Do the bolts go through the centre of the rubbers, or is the bold head inserted into a section in the back of the rubber, ie they don't slide through a tunnel going the whole way through the rubber?

Wow so warm - topped out at 9.3o here yesterday - and the wind I'm sure made it much colder - I spent a bit of time rummaging around for parts but was just toooo cold to do anything - brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Hi Guys, just looking at doing a trial fit for the bench seat in my ute - I have the front brackets but no bolts. Is it usual for there to be a thread/nut welded in the floor - mine doesn't have anything , just four holes each side
Helen / Rod ..A spacer washer between the brass union and rocker shaft halves should be a accurate fit ,not just any old washer that looks like it may do the job ,especially the thickness ,reason being ,there is generally no wear between those fixed faces ,but too thin it will leak ,too thick your pedestal bolts wont line up ,and if you force a thick one in it will put undue pressure on the rocker against the pedestal ,your brass union will self position as the oil feed tube comes up thru head on push rod side of engine ,so the flared seat faces that direction and drain hole therefore faces downward ,I am aware of engines where that drain hole has been soldered up and a very small hole drilled in that place ,can only assume someone didn't want to block it off completely ...cheers Vern .
Hi Vern, thanks for that - this was my concern in that it appeared to be more like a spacer than a "washer" if that makes sense. I do still the one on the other side (and pieced of the broken one) so I can get the size right. Cheers
Many Thanks Tony and Ken. I now feel a lot happier doing the modification today. I suppose my only hesitation was that the hole was put there for a reason. Everything that has been said is quite clear. The beauty of this response is that no one has recommended not to do it. Once again fella's many thanks. Looking at my rocker union to put it back in, noticed one of the "spacers" is broken - are these what chip refers to as bushes? can I buy these anywhere - are they anything specific or can I just get any ol hard plastic washer/spacer that will fit.
My union piece already had a screw in the hole - I did note on a spare grey down the back did not have this hole blocked off - the below explains this.
and the back, which I imagine will be the one I will modify - have to more precisely check out the fit of the front tab to the metal surround in case both will need to be done.
